  You are delusional and will be left behind if that is your view point. The code is usually largely accurate only needing a few tweaks. Easily one of the most powerful scaffolding and learning tool I’ve used in 25 years. Our developers embracing it are more efficient then ever and passing static analysis, owasp scans, coding standards just fine if not better than cranky old devs who think they couldn’t possibly be helped by a dumb machine.

  I have been laughed at and down voted every single fucking time I point out how woefully unprepared every fucking instance is.

  The free model is flawed and will be unsuccessful every fucking time there is any signs popular server. And users aren’t going to tolerate moving fucking servers every month.

  You think cloudflare is going to keep on protecting lemmy.world each week on their free/professional their? Enterprise starts at 20k a year before traffic, good luck raising that kind of yearly money on a hobby server.

  And then there is GDPR and CCPA all of which are ignored and clearly not being enforced just waiting for a lawsuit.

  The only way if this bullshit is successful it’s if someone starts a no profit e.g Mozilla foundation and acts like a functioning adult running a business vs a 16 year old tinkering with Linux.

  They are fighting a lost battle. Especially the voice actors. Generation of decent to God voice acting is already somewhat easy and only going to get easier. It sucks but most of those jobs will be phased out and only the biggest budget content is going to require voice actors. There is no point in protecting easy to automate jobs. Find a new skill and move on. Technology happens, you have to deal with it.

I for one hope a .org starts a monitizartion scheme, deals with the privacy issues this community blatantly ignores, and hires some professionals who actually know what they are doing.

  Christ, that type of penalty has no bearing of actual damages. They kept the data longer than another party thought was needed. The actual damage was minimal. They have a robust set of controls and are one of the better tech companies to work with in regards to child protection. A whole hell of a lot more than these lemmy instances doing literally nothing to protect childrens data.

  The irony is none of these lemmy instances are run by companies with registrations and can do whatever the fuck they want when your data yet everyone is a okay cause pinky promise I hate Reddit too! 🤦‍♂️
