When masks were mandatory, I couldn’t do this and tried for over a minute to open the damn bag.
I found that if I start with the cold vegetable, I could use their moisture to wet my fingers.

- Comment on Audible unveils plans to use AI voices to narrate audiobooks 4 weeks ago:
No publisher is going to pay a professional to narrate their audiobooks when they can have AI do a shitty job for much less.
A shitty narrator can get me to hate a book I like. A great narrator can bring the characters to life, enhance the experience, and turn me from a listener to a fan. I’ve searched for books by narrators like Nick Podehl and Jeff Hayes and bought audiobooks I wouldn’t have otherwise.
- Comment on Audible unveils plans to use AI voices to narrate audiobooks 4 weeks ago:
I wouldn’t support it even if the author couldn’t afford it otherwise. There’s no test to confirm that and knowing profit margines, all publishers will use AI for all their books.
Yes, I’d want smaller authors to have people listen to their books, but without oversight, it’s going to ruin all audiobooks.

- Comment on Researchers from the University of Zurich secret unethical experiment deployed AI-generated comments on Reddit to study how AI could be used to change views. 1 month ago:
Unethical, but insightful. The bot took on fake identities and made up lies that strike at people’s emotions to change their views. Unethical because it can manipulate real people (or other bot accounts) using made up facts or scenarios. Insightful because other bots are already doing this; they’re just not disclosing it. There are more ethnical ways to run this study. This was just the cheap and easy way.
- Comment on Discord confirms it's moving toward 'becoming a public company' as it hires a former Activision executive as its new CEO 1 month ago:
Step One: Provide an exceptional but unprofitable service.
Step Two: Drive out all competition because business model is unprofitable. Become the only service users want and become invested into.
Step Three: Enshitify to show the model can be profitable to investors. Users will not leave because they are already invested and competition is not strong.
Step Four: Go public, while continuing to Enshitify.

That seems reasonable. It’s also possible for both high inflation and high unemployment. In that case he’d be like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I’m still waiting for the stable release. Mostly because I’m not prepared to lose another 200-300 hours.
- Comment on Satisfactory now has controller support, so there’s no excuse for your bad lines 2 months ago:
I was worried about this. The game has so many hotkeys, I have no idea how a controller would handle them. Lots of contextual button mappings.

There’s also Ford’s Probe…
But yeah ID.EVERY1 is a mediocre name.

But, without any thrust, they would stay in orbit for years. Eventually, if in low orbit, their space suit will collide with enough stray atoms, it’ll lose enough speed to fall back to earth and incinerate in the atmosphere.

It’s hard for me not to engage with their opinions. Like “no, that’s not how that works,” “There’s more to it than that,” “there are several things wrong with what you said.” There’s no point trying to argue on the Internet, but some of there comments make me angry. I especially hate when they support something just to “own them libs” like that takes priority over peoples’ well-being.

- Comment on What are the democrats actually doing to help? 3 months ago:
The “reasonable” moderate Democrats are hoping to win votes with: “We’ll undo a few Republican initiatives and put our friends in offices, but otherwise keep everything the same.” Can’t imagine why that isn’t getting them votes. In 2024 they ran out of Republican initiatives to undo and their platform was just: keep our friends in office and keep everything else the same. If they had other planned initiatives, few people picked up on them.

Google and Apple have different versions of maps depending on what your country recognizes.
For example, it will shows territories claimed by China as part of China for Chinese IP addresses, but may show them as independent territories for other countries that recognize them as such.
