I fully agree.
I bought like a $400-600 Costco mattress because one of my friends has one that’s super comfy. But it’s only been two ish years and I’m ready for something new.
To be fair, i think I did get my money’s worth.

I tried the VR mod a year or two ago and it was pretty good except for the way that the character moves does not compute to the way normal people move, so it was making me suuuper sick. The strafing in particular was bad.

Taking the average worker from 1998 and comparing their output to today’s workers would be insane. And then compare the pay? I feel like I’d probably be mad as hell.
I work in mapping and in the 90s, everything was hand drawn. In the 00s, things switched to CAD, and then by 2010 or so our department went to GIS. We’re still using that same GIS program today but held to so much more insane standards. If I don’t have 98% first-pass accuracy on my mapping and data input, I get a talking to. If I’m not putting out 50 jobs a month minimum, I’m getting a talking to.
Comparing any of this to what some of our older staff members did in the 90s is just insanity.

For Dispatch-likes, perhaps other Telltale games would interest you. The Wolf Among Us was really good if I remember correctly. And the Walking Dead games were… a lot, emotionally, but good stories, the first one especially.
But gosh there’s just so many games out there. Maybe a Breath of the Wild playthrough would be up your alley. A Hollowknight let’s play might be a bit boring, but I’m certain a lore video would be engaging. Thomas Was Alone - that’s an older game so I couldn’t tell you if there’s any good videos of it, but it’s great. Along similar ~old~ lines, BioShock games are good. And Dishonored in that same era/vein.
Killer Frequency might also be in the realm of Dispatch. Potentially Potionomics as well.
And any and all Supergiant games I think are great to watch or play. Loads of content in that company. And great songs :3

Arcade racers that aren’t just… Bad.
Burnout Revenge was a beloved game of my childhood. You had bonuses from wrecking your foes, got bonuses for creating wrecks, and for near death experiences. And there was an awesome mode where you would launch your car into a scene to cause as much damage as possible.
Midnight Club 2 where you could customize your cars and race them on fun tracks, but could also just beep around the open world.
Maybe it’s nostalgia, but I would love a fun racing game that doesn’t have a GTA attached to it.

‘Puzzles’ that are just fetch quests for numbers or pieces of something.
It’s so boring and such a waste of my time.
Let me circle these four pillars to find the numbers on them and plug them into the whatever keypad. Wowie. What a head scratcher. I sure feel like I solved a thing, boy howdy.

To be honest, I’ve never understood it either, but I’ve used it in the past to find artists and fanart. Only because I understood Tumblr even less. Twitter was great for artists, or at least for my art enjoyment.
- Comment on YSK How to cook a perfect (hard) boiled egg 1 month ago:
If you have an instant pot or something similar, pressure cooking eggs using a 5-5-5 method is also super great.
Put the eggs in a steamer tray or little rack- as long as they’re not touching the bottom. Pour in a cup of water, then seal the lid and make sure it’s not set to venting. Set it to cook on high pressure for 5 minutes (I do 4, actually because I like it a little jammy in the yolk).
It takes ~5 min for the pressure to come up, 5 min cook time, then you give 5 min for the pressure to naturally come down before venting and taking eggs out to put in cool water.
I’ve personally never used an ice bath and my eggs come out gorgeous every time.

- Comment on Did y'all ever felt curious about your parent's past? If your relationship with parents isn't close, how does one get their parent's story without making the interaction awkward? 1 month ago:
Both of my parents had difficult upbringings that both of them need some serious therapy for. I don’t really know any details, but a little bit ago my mom got a random call from an investigator in southern California. They had either caught some guy or were trying to catch some guy that killed a string of young girls some 30 years ago. All I know is that after talking more thoroughly with the investigator, she was sobbing - and my mother is a very hard woman. She had a run in with this guy and my guess is that there was something very traumatic involving an SA. But I don’t know and I don’t want to know because I don’t have the oomph to carry that weight with her unless she goes to therapy.
I know some other stories from either of them and it rings true that hurt people hurt people. But I don’t want to know more about any of the hard times nor the party times because it’s too much for me to bear.
- Comment on Gamepad for Linux Gaming? 1 month ago:
I’ve been using an Xbox pro controller for a while on my Mint setup, just plugged in. I can’t get the Bluetooth to connect and I assume it’s because I need to update the drivers for the controller via Windows. 🤷 Whatever.
But my controller bit the dust somewhat recently, so I grabbed a PS5 controller this time and it works right out of the box, no issue. I haven’t tried the Bluetooth to be honest because I’m so used to playing plugged in, but meh. The little trackpad thing on the PlayStation controller also works well as a mouse trackpad when I’m far away from my PC (like if I have it running in the living room instead of at a desk).
- Comment on What's a recent game you've tried playing that isn't worth the hype? 1 month ago:
I think this is one of the reasons why Pathfinder 2e has been doing so well.
It’s a middle ish ground and it feels good to progress.
My current issues with it are how underpowered the items are. So boring.

Depending on where you live, a bike can do wonders. I hate the gym too, but being able to ride my bike and see different places and things at my own pace is really motivating for me.
- Comment on What's your answer? And in the picture which news story is being reported? 2 months ago:
I think mine is the JonBenet Ramsey case. I lived in Colorado and I just remember seeing her picture on the news over and over and over. It’s a very very early memory so I don’t remember much else at all.
I vaguely remember Princess Diana’s death, I think. I remember when Michael Jordan retired - but honestly that might be more to do with Space Jam than anything else.
And then 911 is the next big one.
