- Comment on What's the deal with gasping? Is it an inherent reflex? Is it learned? Did I desensitize myself to the point of not gasping anymore? Do you gasp? Do certain groups of people gasp less commonly? 4 days ago:
Similar to above commenter, I’m just flinging poo, but
Those who are trained in the tougher situations are, I imagine, more desensitized and therefore don’t do the egads! sort of gasp. I imagine they probably don’t necessarily need to rely on that burst of air because they’ll take a purposeful deep breath before heading into the fray.
That being said, I think professionals do still gasp. It’s probably just not something one’s brain really catches onto. But it is a startle reflex - so if a surgeon is squirted in the face with blood, if there’s a close call with a firefighter, if a cop walks up to a car and has a gun out under their chin… I imagine each of these will get a little gasp at the very least.
- Comment on Be honest whose actually working today and who is goofing off 6 days ago:
Ehhh to be honest, I’ve gotten a little too comfortable on the other days of the week just slacking off, so I’m hoping my brain will let me power through at least a few items today so I don’t look like I’m doing nothing.
My work does 4x10s so most people choose to have Fridays off instead of Mondays, which means it’s extra quiet on Fridays. Great for productivity.

Not at all unreasonable.
If it’s within your means, could y’all take a long trip out that way? I can’t at all imagine what the draw is to rural Wyoming. It’s hot as hell and dryer than an oven in summer, and it’s insanely windy and cold in the winter. Maybe go take a week during each season and get an idea. I’m sure there are some ranchers out there that would hire a temporary farmhand as well.
Good luck.
- Comment on Cat door in window 1 week ago:
The sturdiness was an issue because my cats could bend it easily. Also the smaller gauge of the wire meant that they were chewing on it at times.
My biggest issue is that my boy got his paw stuck after reaching through to try and get a bug or something and hurt himself pretty bad after freaking out.
Goat wire is typically higher gauge, sturdier, and the holes are bigger but definitely not big enough to escape through.
- Comment on Cat door in window 2 weeks ago:
My apartment patio is covered, so I have some tall jacks that hold the corners, I stapled across the top, and at the bottom I used velcro ties to hold the net to the gate.
I have built a few standalone catios as well. I usually use goat wire as I’ve had some issues with chicken wire before, staple it to whatever frame I’m using, and then add an exterior aesthetic frame to the outside to help hold everything in place and to look much nicer.

- Comment on Do you ever feel like your inside thoughts are leaking out? 2 weeks ago:
Oh absolutely.
If I’m writing, my face usually contorts to the part I’m on. If a character is sleepy, I yawn, if they’re mad, I snarl, if they’re sad, I’ll pout.
Otherwise, often my intrusive thoughts win. To be fair, my anxiety meds sometimes kick up and “activate” as my psych calls it, which makes me entirely manic and unable to hold onto that impulse control.

- Comment on A game you "didn't know it was bad 'til people told you so"? 2 weeks ago:
I think that might be part of it. For a lot of people, it was that the formula was old and tired. I know Odyssey did fairly well, but it’s still just an AC game
- Comment on We went from LEARN TO CODE to NO ONE LEARN TO CODE GET A CONSTRUCTION JOB in about a 3 year span. 2 weeks ago:
My dad is a master mason and can’t find anyone at all who wants to do the job. It’s hard, hard work. Unfortunately, it seems like he’s going to have to retire with no apprentices to carry on all his incredible knowledge.
- Comment on Instead of asking all my stupid questions separately, could I just get a ton of "How to Adult" type resources in the comments? 3 weeks ago:
I don’t have a link, sorry, but I know there’s a YouTube channel called “Dad, how do I…?” And it’s a lot of basic adult things. Such as change a tire, check your oil, resumes, tie a tie, things like that.
I don’t know if it’s long form, but I agree with you that videos are preferred for learning and disagree with the person saying Rule 1 for adulting is reading.

I’ve been playing Planet Crafter quite a bit. It gives me the same vibes Subnautica did, just without any scary monsters. Love it to pieces

I’m not sure how small is small, but Splattercat Gaming is fun. It’s not the place to go for series unfortunately, though I wish he’d get back into them.
But Splat has a lot of interesting life experiences and he’s fun to listen to.

- Comment on Speedrunner already beat Zelda: Breath of the Wild on Nintendo Switch 2 2 months ago:
I actually think it might be slower based on the processing power. There’s a trick on the Switch (one, I guess), where you have to pause and play a few times while looking at areas that take longer to process and it somehow accelerates your flying on the glider like crazy.
Also I think one of the new tricks is wiggling yourself with a shield drawn on frame perfect side to sides, so it might make that harder if the frame rate goes up?
But I have really only a basic idea of these things.

Already mentioned.
- Slime Rancher
- Fields of Mistria
- A Short Hike
Not yet mentioned (at least that I saw)
-
Potionomics
-
- A game where you play Silvia, a potion crafter who has taken over her uncle’s shop on an island full of adventurers. You get to meet many kinds of people, both adventurers and not, and have a chance at romancing pretty much all of them (at once, if you select the polyamory mode). The art style is adorable (please physically release the cards, devs) and the voice acting is so well done.
-
Monster Prom
-
- Strictly a slice of life / dating sim about trying to get a date for prom. The cast of characters are very cute, as is the art style. It’s also multiplayer if you’re into that.
-
Emily is Away
-
- I believe this one is free. It’s a nostalgia blast for those of us who grew up with instant messaging like MSN or AIM. It’s been a while since I played, but I remember it being cute and very interesting.

I second Fields of Mistria. It’s just better than Stardew Valley in my opinion, in almost every way.
