Something would eventually take their place. The strain would be temporary.
- Comment on Amazon execs destroyed years of evidence before FTC action, agency says 1 year ago:
Gotta go further and deeper then that too. There are other, larger and more diverse companies that are hiding in plain site behind the more popular business like Google, Amazon, Microsoft, etc…
- Comment on DoorDash now warns you that your food might get cold if you don’t tip 1 year ago:
THIS IS IT. All other comments in this thread that don’t say this are focusing on the wrong problem or are flat out wrong.
- Comment on DoorDash now warns you that your food might get cold if you don’t tip 1 year ago:
Focusing on the wrong issue, but you’re technically correct. You’re not tipping. You’re guessing at what door dash should be properly paying their employees instead of DD doing it themselves in your favor.
- Comment on DoorDash now warns you that your food might get cold if you don’t tip 1 year ago:
You’re more likely to not receive your food then someone tamper with your food.
- Comment on DoorDash now warns you that your food might get cold if you don’t tip 1 year ago:
Yeah but that’s the problem. They’re essentially outsourcing something they couldn’t afford in the first place so DD becomes the bad guy for not paying their employees instead. Then the customer bitches at the driver’s because the drivers don’t want shitty pay for their work. Stop using DD.
- Comment on DoorDash now warns you that your food might get cold if you don’t tip 1 year ago:
That’s about what they make with tips and an hourly pay for doing the task. Instead DD has created the system where that responsibility falls on the customer buying food.

You’re upset at the wrong person/thing.
- Comment on DoorDash now warns you that your food might get cold if you don’t tip 1 year ago:
Stop attacking the drivers. If you’re upset about how door dash works, get upset at DOOR DASH itself, not the people they can’t seem to pay properly.
Stop using the service…
- Comment on DoorDash now warns you that your food might get cold if you don’t tip 1 year ago:
While it’s called a TIP, it’s not. Nor is it a bribe imo. It’s “door dash is too lazy to pay their driver’s a fair rate, so here is where you come in…” The higher the amount you put in there, the more likely your order will be received And delivered in a timely manner.
If door dash just paid their people properly, this issue wouldn’t exist but they feel the need to maximize their profits instead of doing what’s right for both their employee and customers.

Fuck it. I’ll just say this instead. It’s time to break up the tech monopolies. Google, Microsoft, etc.

If they have it, direct support is the best way. Like Patreon for instance.
- Comment on YouTube is cracking down on consumers’ favorite loophole - Adblockers 1 year ago:
You’d be surprised how things can change, and quickly. It’s not going to be a overnight win for another platform. It’s going to have to start from the ground up, in probably a decentralized way, but it can happen.
- Comment on CEO Bobby Kotick will leave Activision Blizzard on January 1, 2024 | Schreier: Kotick will depart after 33 years, employees are "very excited." 1 year ago:
We don’t know that yet. I dislike Kotick as well, but doubtful that much changes from the monetization standpoint of the company.
From a purely morale standpoint, it’s mostly a W. But it’s not like Kotick isn’t getting his golden parachute and wiping his tears away with $100 bills.
- Comment on YouTube cracking on ad blockers. 1 year ago:
They’re serving ads just fine. They’re now targeting those that don’t want the ads and actively try to avoid them. That’s the main difference.
- Comment on YouTube cracking on ad blockers. 1 year ago:
Issues like these will spur action though. I’m excited to see what comes out to compete.

We’ve replaced Kotick with Microsoft lol
- Comment on YouTube is cracking down on consumers’ favorite loophole - Adblockers 1 year ago:
These ad block users should be considered the cost of doing business and they should be careful with targeting them.
This kind of thing springs users into action to either find or use work arounds or create a alternative platform.

With my recent issues of sleeping horizontally lately, this seems like something interesting to try.
- Comment on Smartphone sales down 22 percent in Q2, the worst performance in a decade 1 year ago:
I told everyone that once contracts for cell phones were replaced with payment plans, companies would start gouging their customers with higher phone prices because the customers could now “afford” it.
Greedy ain’t the right word imo.

- Comment on Coming to you soon... 1 year ago:
Won’t matter. As soon as those alternatives get big enough, they’ll either sell out or look for more ways to maximize profits. The Internet is wholely infected by corporations now. Just need better ways to beat them back somehow.
- Comment on Coming to you soon... 1 year ago:
For me, I wouldn’t say it’s more enjoyable per se. I miss looking into interesting topics. However, I do find myself focusing on my business more which I guess is a bonus. But outside of that, it’s very disappointing the enshitification of the Internet that’s occurring.
