I was being sarcastic.
They will for sure use things like phobias/weaknesses to psychologically influence you to get you out of their way.

They for sure won’t get hold of any notes about medical conditions (or god forbid, notes from your therapist) and use them against you if you opposed them.
- Comment on 7 years later, Valve's Proton has been an incredible game-changer for Linux 5 days ago:
I’ve been using mint exclusively for like 3 months and have been using a hearty blend of terminal installs and the program manager app.
It seems to not have caused any problems YET, but I’ve been assured it will. I see flatpack conversations a lot and don’t fully understand the differences (apart from the install method).
Is it worth understanding and committing to a single system or can I just be a low-power user for a while?

Yeah. Might as well be a Batman comic for the purpose getting accurate news.

Not sure about wine. Haven’t used it since like 2016.
I’m running all my games in steam with proton. Not sure if that’s connected at all.

Or it just happens overseas, where these laws don’t apply (or can’t be enforced).
But I don’t think it will happen. Too many countries are desperate to be “the AI country” that they’ll risk burning whole industries to the ground to get it.

I had my first issue since switching just yesterday (I’ve been switched for a couple of months).
I wanted to run some mod installers for the old Kotor games but they’re .exe files.
Only stuff I could get working was manual file-replacements and steam workshop mods.

Yes, and they were all as smart at humans. ;)
So mostly average but some absolute thickos too.
- Comment on Valve gets pressured by payment processors with a new rule for game devs and various adult games removed 5 weeks ago:
A lot of them want to use your financial data (what you buy, for how much and when) to sell to advertisers etc.
Maybe adding porn stuff in there taints the data?
- Comment on ROG Xbox Ally Is $700 And Xbox Ally X Is $1050 5 weeks ago:
More compact tech usually increases pricing.
Also the need to have it not break when regularly transported in a backpack etc (think moving parts).
Also it includes a screen and controllers.

No. Things will just get worse.
Your statement has probably been true since 2008. Maybe longer.

Even on the middle east eye YouTube I’m seeing so many appeals to authority and “it’s illegal, simple as. Full stop. Not for debate”.
Not sure if brigading or what but it really worries me how people think.
It’s not like they’re stupid, it’s like it’s uncomfortable for them to think.

About 300 years after the invention of the bow, which is crazy.
It meant that the value of archers was really low from a military point of view. Those nerds were useless.
- Comment on 8999 BC 2 months ago:
They may have been mentioned/featured in things that last longer than the bows. Statues, pottery, writing on stone tablets.
Also I think they find skeletons with flint arrowheads in them sometimes too.
So it can be pieced together from lots of small, even partial data points.
But we find new stuff all the time that changes what we thought.
They found a 4000 year old bagless vacuum cleaner the other day.
That last one was a joke.
- Comment on VCs are starting to partner with private equity to buy up call centers, accounting firms and other "mature companies" to replace their operations with AI 2 months ago:
They’re not going away, they’re just going to be more persistent with their cold calling, and more infuriating with their call answering.

He doesn’t post on twitter any more I think. Just his own site.
- Comment on So, is the USA screwed? 5 months ago:
Screwed is always relative.
I’m hearing chat that immigrants from places like Turkey or India are going “oh yeah this is what it’s like back home”.
So it’s possible it just goes full neoliberal (i.e. no consequences or regulations for the rich) and the division of wealth grows even further.
Provided he doesn’t cause a war or some kind of other mass-death problem (chemical spills, reactor meltdown etc) it might just have a cost primarily in human suffering, as opposed to human life.

A whole new generation of the Kobo readers just came out too!
I’ve got one of the previous Gen and I was so happy to find they have models with the clicky buttons to turn the page.
