It means that no question will be considered stupid and your intelligence/experise will not be judged. So feel free to as any question as long as you’re sincere and serious.

- Comment on What is the General Consensus of Web3? 1 week ago:
Web is by definition decentralised. I can run a website on my home PC and it’s part of the internet. Web3 is running Blockchain. They are two independent concepts imho. When it comes to Web3, my opinion of it is “meh”. It’s a buzzword more than anything.

Fortunately or unfortunately, this change is also political. Vote for the right people. Hey involved in local elections. Right to your local politicians. Attend town meetings if possible.

Whose company that sends a poop emoji as a response when the PR department is emailed? Hmm, this us a tough question. . .
- Comment on A YouTuber let the Cybertruck close on his finger to test the new sensor update. It didn't go well. 2 weeks ago:
It’s going to assume you want to close the frunk and maybe something like a bag is getting in the way, which would make it close harder.
What’s next? When you press the brake padel the car is going to assume that you want to slow down? Wow, that’s some fantastic wisdom from Tesla!

I mean the following are 2 different and unrelated questions. And the OP asked the answer for the 1st.

- Why is it colder in polar regions?

- Comment on A German state is ditching Windows and Microsoft Office for Linux and LibreOffice on the 30,000 PCs it uses for local government functions 1 month ago:
According to the article,
- They are also migrating backend infrastructure such as emails servers etc.
- They already have Linux migration experience in some German states as well as the current proposer.
- Companies such as RedHat and Canonical and OpenSuse do offier enterprise level support. So open source software doesn’t have “after sales” support is a myth.
- They say that the goal of the migration is privacy and security, no necessarily cost driven. They very well be prepared to pay a premium for enterprise level support.

if not for your help, would you family be using Linux? Could they have installed it alone, and maintain whatever distor they were using, without help?
No they wouldn’t. Then again, they don’t know how to install Wndows themselves either. So it’s a moot point. Just like they know how to use their Android phone but don’t know how to install it.

Nice assumption. I do work in IT.

Apart from compatibility all other features are available on Linux. You yourself said that you’ve never contacted support other than to activate Windows (which you wouldn’t need on Linux).
I recommend that you install Fedora KDE and observe how shockingly easy and polished everything is.

If it cost like $100 max that’s within realms of sensibility. If I bought that thing for 3000 I’d probably die from embarrassment.

I don’t know how to mount a network drive in Windows. So what’s your point?
btw I just searched how to do it in KDE. First result is a Reddit thread explaining how to do it in Dolphin.
- Comment on Microsoft in their infinite wisdom has replaced the Hide Desktop icon with Copilot. 2 months ago:
No searching at all. I got a new computer last month.
- Copy the IP address of the old computer
- Paste it into Dolphin
- Copy paste everything

- Comment on Fear Mongering About Range Anxiety Has To Stop — CT Governor Calls Out EV Opponents 4 months ago:
You have not considered some aspects. You have concluded that solar is only used for charging the EV and that it doesn’t power your house. Realistically nobody does that. Your solar beakeven should be converted to calculate how much time it takes to save 15k from both your electricity bill + gas savings. Then the whole equation becomes,
battery replacement cost + solar cost = (annual electricity bill + fuel cost) * x number of years
Only then can you know if the breakeven period is a save or a loss.
Ignoring solar, what’s the breakeven like when you charge the vehicle from grid? (With night time prices if you have such a tarrif/discount)
