- Comment on Microsoft Outlook servers down, reports say 17 hours ago:
Saw this in our all IT Teams chat today with people complaining. I just laughed and said oh well that’s what you get when you moved from on prem to cloud. At least it was a Saturday, although I think that was by design since it appeared to be due to a change they implemented and reversed so that makes sense.
We recently had a huge outage almost a month ago with RingCentral as well. Our entire call center was down for almost 8 hours due to that crazy outage. I have been with this company 19 years and it was Avaya on prem and never had a single outage, last year we moved to RingCentral and boom less than a year later that happened. The funny thing is they also said they never had that happen that bad ever before either. Thankfully our VP has been around the block and knew to tell the company when we shifted to cloud that we needed to lower our expectations from what we previously had because there’s no way you will have 100% uptime with a cloud solution. 8 hours was never expected, though, lol.

Sorry, there’s a 10 breadstick limit now. Can’t have something called unlimited in this economy!

This is the kind of setup that once it’s complete you smile at how awesome it is, then pack it up because you don’t know what you even want to play and most of the games I do I wanna play i wanna play on a better monitor.
- Comment on How often do you run backups on your system? 1 week ago:
I honestly don’t have too much to back up, so I run one full backup job every Sunday for different directories I care about. They run a check on the directory and only back up any changes or new files. I don’t have the space to backup everything, so I only take the smaller stuff and most important. The backup software also allows live monitoring if I enable it, so some of my jobs I have that turned on since I didn’t see any reason not to. I reuse the NAS drives that report errors that I replace with new ones to save on money. So far, so good.
Backup software is Bvckup2, and reddit was a huge fan of it years ago, so I gave it a try. It was super cheap for a lifetime license at the time, and it’s super lightweight. Sorry, there is no Linux version.

Absolutely, I don’t disagree with your statement at all. I work heavily in systems administration and recently transitioned to networking. I deal with Linux systems, servers, vm’s, Azure daily, and for stability nothing beats Linux. I just tend to agree with the statement above commenting on how you always see these Windows articles, yet almost none actually affect you in the end.
- Comment on Microsoft gives up on users experiencing problems updating their Windows 11 machines. Now recommends a "manual correction" 2 weeks ago:
It’s been the same on win 11. The only experience i have had was at work. I work closely with the updating team, and there have been a few times where things would break like printers, and we would revert the updates to stop it from going to everyone and uninstall. Sometimes, that meant a help desk guy had to go to the pc or remote in to do it manually. I’ve been there 19 years now, and it’s happened twice?

The comment hate on that site is intense. I think the 5 days as repayment is fine. I guess some people take this stuff more seriously than me!
- Comment on How do you keep up? 3 weeks ago:
I learned this the hard way as well… I did a big OS update on mine once and it broke almost every application running on it. Docker worked perfectly still. I transferred everything I could to Docker after that.
- Comment on Is the Nintendo Switch 2 the end of innovative consoles? 3 weeks ago:
I thought about this and imo I give them a pass. It’s just the successor to the switch, it is just called the switch 2. Why would we expect it to offer or be anything different than what it already is? Honestly, I wonder how much time they spent trying to decide if they should even go the new console route or just call it a pro edition.
I think the next console release will tell a lot more regarding this. More than ever, the next console releases will really need to bring something new to the table since, at this point, there’s very little difference between getting a nice PC or a console outside exclusives. I think those lines will continue to blur so consoles absolutely need to start evolving into something more or possibly lose more people to PC rigs.
- Comment on Is the Nintendo Switch 2 the end of innovative consoles? 3 weeks ago:
I would say the GameCube was new and different for them because they transitioned from cartridge to disc, and of course, they had to use the mini disc to be extra different from the rest.
- Comment on Is catbox down? 3 weeks ago:
Thank you! I use Quad9 and have noticed these links stopped working about a week or 2 ago. The problem was I redid my network at that time and kept thinking it was something on my end. I have a firewall with recursive DNS setup and I was able to add my own entry for it, but I’m guessing the IP changes because it only lasted a few days. Now that I know why I’ll see what else I can do since I do enjoy Quad9 otherwise.
- Comment on Dell kills the XPS brand 1 month ago:
I believe the precision series kind of took over. They are high-end models but not really built for gaming. At this point, the XPS wasn’t built for gaming either, so I guess having 2 high-end lines just didn’t make sense?
- Comment on Experts say high food prices are here to stay. Here's why 1 month ago:
There will be consequences. Who knows how long it will take. Seems like we’re getting close to that breaking point. There always used to be that fine line were they took just enough so people can survive. Now they are all just extra greedy and took too it all. Tons of people have now used their savings, safety nets, and maxed out credit cards to survive. There’s already more people than ever going homeless and defaulting on loans and credit cards. It won’t be long before an even higher percentage of people have no more options and get desperate. These price increases are just one of the direct causes for failing to survive. I say there’s only a few more years until something big happens.
Just my opinion. I am one of the people effected by price increases and I feel like I make a decent living. I can’t imagine how people who make even less do it…
- Comment on Apple's controversial iPhone accessory may have been discontinued 3 months ago:
You got a point, and I looked on amazon. Most bundle 2 or 3 into one, and the price is around $10 with a few above and not many below. I did find a 2 pack for $5. so I guess 50% because that’s definitely the one I would buy.

New franchise needs to build a following first. The lower price point will get more people to try it. I’m sold already, but there’s a ton of people who have no idea what this game is still and won’t until it releases. I hope it’s as good as it looks, and I hope it succeeds and leads to more.
- Comment on Praystation 5 4 months ago:
That’s exactly what I have for my PC. I finally made one last fall when prices cane down. I love that controller.
For the PS5 I don’t think there are many options either, and I like the controller a lot, it’s just that they cheaped out on parts and that pisses me off.
- Comment on Praystation 5 4 months ago:
It’s not what anyone wants because it offers little more over the base console. Doesn’t mean the base system wasn’t great. I love it, and it was an amazing buy when covid happened and I couldn’t buy PC parts to make my own and even if i could the GPU prices were insane. The only complaint I can make is the controller breaks every year due to stick drift… I have been gaming since the 90s and it’s the first time I have ever seen this issue.
- Comment on Man-in-the-Middle PCB Unlocks HP Ink Cartridges 4 months ago:
I’ve had the same HP printer since around 2016? Don’t use it much, but it comes in handy when it’s needed. First time I ran out of ink I shopped around for the best deal and ended up with some other ink brand. Dumb me decided to update the printer when I got the ink. Boom it denied me the ability to use it now… it took me a few hours of trying to find exactly how to downgrade the firmware back to a previous version so I can use the dam ink I brought! I was thrilled when that worked. I then set it’s IP to static and removed the gateway. Now, no matter what it can’t reach home and know it needs an update at all. I almost can’t wait till the day this stops working so I can invest my money into whatever few brands that don’t screw you.
- Comment on Day -1 of posting a screenshot from a game I've been playing until I also forget to post screenshots 5 months ago:
I really went and started looking up the hard letters thinking what you could have played if it was this letter. I quickly realized even the harder letters all have at least 2 big game series belonging to them, so it’s not very hard. Even when looking at Y, you also have the Yakuza series.

It did when the ps5 first came out. $500 for it was a steal back then. I wanted to build a PC at the time but due to the crazy GPU prices and low stock for other parts I decided it was best to wait. Got a ps5 instead (was also hard to get as well) and thought it was absolutely worth the price for the experience it offered. Just built the pc I wanted last fall shortly after prices started dropping. First time ever I made a good choice.

That’s me this month… officially running out of money and all avenues of emergency funds. I realized it yesterday and still processing what my next move is to survive. Both my wife and myself have decent jobs but just can’t make ends meet anymore. Final nail is kids daycare expenses. man, do I seriously wish this was over with and we would be ok… idk how people do this.
