I was a kid when this was in blockbuster, and I remember playing it in the store using the demo setup. I was glad to have tried it, but I was good after that, lol.

I dont go into depth that much, but i do a lot of manual labor getting everything in place when I get new music. Maybe I never spent a good amount of time figuring it out, but preset id tags done automatically never worked out for me. I check them all and edit a few things on some, and then I run it through music Picard using someone’s script to only update genre tags and give up to 5 per track. After that, I add them in. My biggest complaint about Spotify was that I didn’t feel anything when it recommended me stuff, and it always felt off as to what I heard. Something about looking it up, finding what’s new, and wanting to hear it is why I keep coming back. Spotify, I didn’t learn anything about who came on unless I looked. Weirdly enough, I feel like I discovered way more myself than with the algorithm.

Yeah! I’ve been using it since the first month, and it has been released and has come a long way in only 2 years. Funny enough, I used to use his other app, Yatse, way back in like 2010 for a while, and I also have nothing but high praise for it as well. It was a remote control app for Kodi, and the things he added to it were impressive. Who knew you needed tons of features in a remote control app!

I love seeing this. As someone who has kept his own library of music since 2004 and went through the peak of local libraries to it almost being dead after like 2012, this is a day I never saw coming! When it started declining, home hosting solutions were already sparse, but then some more threw in the towel as well. Right now, I use Navidrome as my server and Symfonium for the app and has been an incredible 2 years using it. If people start coming back, I feel like it will only drive more creativity and new features as it will be worked on more than it is.

What happens if or when it breaks? Since it’s rented, is that at the very least not on you? I would imagine any or all work on it shouldn’t cost you anything since you’re paying monthly for it? Not that I want that, but do you get anything for this rental fee?
- Comment on A conundrum 6 days ago:
I have no idea what that is, but I dont think I wanna know. I did want tankless on demand, but the service guy convinced me it’s not worth it, and I regret my decision. Said I won’t save much because the power draw is much higher than a water heater, so even though the heater is always keeping it warm, the on demand still takes more. I think I may have needed additional wiring for the electric and believe that’s really the reason he swayed me away.

Hey, I just did these things! Water heater i was ripped off, which cost me $2600, and the roof i actually thought was a good deal at 17k. Not fun but the roof made me happy. The water heater actually destroyed my basement by leaking out…

- Comment on [Help] My first serious self hosted server 1 week ago:
Thankfully, we never lost data, but we have had the controller die a few times through the years on a few servers before. Thankfully we had great support and the part was same day delivered to us to replace and the 2nd time was a Dell server which we also get the part same day and a tech to come replace it for us.
We avoided buying servers with this going forward. At this point, we really only have VM’s and only a handful of physical servers anymore, so it’s not even a concern.

I just use a domain name through name cheap, which includes ddns. I cant think of anything else that I do at home that isn’t taken care of locally.

Same! I wasn’t thrilled with the start menu of 8, but 8.1 fixed that. Especially after skipping Vista, it was nice to finally move to something else. Since I work in IT, we decided not to use 8 either in the company, but I could do whatever and was happy to use it until 10 released. We even got the first few surfaces just to try out as well, which were cool.

- Comment on Cisco layoffs after record revenue report 3 weeks ago:
Good luck with innovation when your engineers’ morale is in the shitter. I honestly don’t even believe they want to innovate. They probably want to coast off name recognition and what they have for a while and see how long it takes before they start losing ground. The problem with this is it almost always comes back to kick them in the ass. Here is hoping for just that. Besides screw Cisco, I’ve only worked for companies that hate them and use everything else that gets the job done just as good for a fraction of the cost and way easier to set up.

What about Firefox? Looks like it exists for more than just chrome. I know because I literally used it this week for the first time ever due to being on vacation in a state that wants my photo to view porn… I couldn’t believe this shit actually exists now.

I had some since childhood and as a child trying to explain these to people lead nowhere, and I just thought I had something nobody else had. Then, years later, the internet came, and some random post like this came, and I went holy shit! It was amazing to finally know what it was and that they really aren’t a big deal.

- Comment on Perplexity offers to buy Google Chrome for $34.5 billion 4 weeks ago:
Wouldn’t people just leave? I feel like that’s such an easy thing to do these days. If they are too old, they probably weren’t using Chrome anyway and default to edge since its just there. I know not everyone would, but I wonder what the percentage would be in the end. They have been killing it themselves lately with the removal of the blockers. I’ve been on Firefox for over a decade now. If Firefox did something like this, I would be gone in a day.

I think the most insulting part is the price… I thought most “gaming” chairs cost less than that since they are cheap, terribly made products that need to appeal to lower end markets. So just buy a new one for the same price or cheaper.

Phew, ok good. A few months ago, when this first leaked, it made it seem like this was going to be used for every country and for the entire game. I have never played GTA online and never will.
The internet is continuing to get worse and worse… also, those comments on the actual article were strangely to pro.
- Comment on PlayStation 6 Console And New PS6 Handheld ‘Canis’ Specs Leak, It’s Claimed - Insider Gaming 1 month ago:
Some weird views in the article. Like comparing it to the price of the ps5 pro and will be lower. Of course it will be. It has to be since the price point of the average consumer will never buy it at that price. They need to get it back down to the $400-$500 range for it to work. Also saying the ps4 cutback on hardware compared to the ps3 may be true but it wasnt noticeable either. The jump between both consoles was huge and didnt seem like anything was sacrificed. That won’t be the case here since i doubt anyone will even notice the difference because games aren’t getting that much better looking anymore. They need to start focusing on features and other advantages to establish itself as a better option to having a PC.
