As someone who is paying a mortgage around the $2,500 mark, I can say this is a steal compared to renting anywhere within 1-2 hours of my area. I want to sell, but I can’t afford to… if I wanted to and move elsewhere into an apartment, I can possibly get something as low as $1500 but its run down, in a bad neighborhood, and only a studio or maybe if im lucky 1 bedroom. $2000, it’s still terrible looking from what I’ve seen. $2500 or basically a mortgage gets you something ok, but at this point, why sell and get something worse??? 3k mark is the starting point to getting you semi luxery, but I can’t afford that! That’s why I want to sell to begin with! The entire system is fucked… I don’t envy anyone that is just about to start their lives and move out.

Ahh, yeah, it can be crowded. We made that mistake the first year and went the week before school in the south starts. The last 2 we did it the week after they go back, like the 3rd week in August, and its been pretty dead. This year especially, and I have a feeling it was even less because people are cutting back as well due to the struggles.
I think things have changed. We don’t really drink when with the kids, and we really didn’t see much where it was out of control anywhere. I do agree you gotta watch the areas you go to, especially at night. Different generations, I feel like those times are over these days, haha.

Total gas cost for round trip was 2 fills each way, so just under $200. There’s also tolls that are pretty expensive these days, but I would say they still bring the total under $300 for 4 people to travel. Of course, I should double this cost since im going twice as far if I do decide to take the plunge.
Just curious what was so bad that you hated the beach? When I grew up the only place my parents took me was Williamsburg VA like 6 years in a row. It got old but looking back i appreciate it. I also hate the beach, I never really enjoyed it and would rather do just about anything else, but the wife loves it, and the kids seem to as well, so I hold my breath, lol. It also seems like the easiest solution for smaller kids.
- Comment on Catch of the day 2 days ago:
Thanks, I see some cool options there. I’ll check it out some more. Only other problem is myrtle beach is about the extent of driving south with 2 kids. Its a little over 10 hours. Flying may work, but it does cost more.

Wow, our family has gone 3 times now in the past 5 years. It’s always been great for us. As someone trying to get the cheapest vacation with the most value, this was really the only spot to go. Sure, the hotel rooms were not the greatest, but they had on-site watersides, kids’ pools, lazy river, and multiple indoor and outdoor pools with hot tubs. Beach was just past that. Idk where you’re from, but for someone in NJ, there is nothing that I have found that offers anything like that from here all the way down. Entire week was like $1700. If I wanted a hotel half as good here, it’s like $4k to 5k for the same week. The only complaints I have are some sketchy areas to be avoided, but we got the same problems up here. They are all tourist traps, but I would rather spend the least to give my kids a decent time. Also, the beach is way nicer than NJ!
Maybe one day I’ll have some extra money to go somewhere else…

I was curious, so I looked him up. Apparently, he is estimated at $50 million. That’s way more than enough to retire, but i will say I was kind of shocked at how low it was. Guess I just expect to see these people in the hundreds. Who knows, it is just an estimate.

Back in high school we knew a kid who wasnt the brightest but I guess I didnt fully understand how bad that was until a question was asked about dinosaurs and he really believed they existed around 1000 years ago. When you get information like that from someone, it changes things.

It’s sad that none of these people you deal with don’t know what service they use or vendors they deal with? That sounds fantastic for you, scary for everyone else.
- Comment on Ex PlayStation exec says Sony can't keep "increasing the graphics power" with new consoles after tech plateau, but PS5 has already "made almost every game a better game" 3 days ago:
Im guessing speed. To me, one of my favorite improvements over the ps4 was load speeds of everything. It felt like I went back in time to SNES days when walking into the next room was instant, unlike on the ps1 for the same games.
- Comment on Which game would you erase from your memory, in order to experience it fresh once again? 3 days ago:
Im almost not sure if I want that. Most of the games I would do that for are older games from like 25 years ago, and I honestly can’t see playing them today and ever having those fond moments like I did then. In my case, the time of playing them also mattered a lot.

I am old because, for me, my favorite was battlefield 1942. Had so much fun, and it wasn’t as competitive, which i enjoyed even more.

- Comment on Steam Next Fest is back for October 2025. What good demos have you found? 1 week ago:
But only relatively recently have demos started allowing you to play through a long demo and allow you to use that save and continue playing the full game if you purchase it. They wouldn’t be that long if that wasn’t an option since you dont want people to get too far only to make them start over.
- Comment on Cracked shower drain 1 week ago:
I am really bad at this stuff as well and have limited experience, but i did replace a sink drain once, and underneath, you put plumbers putty to seal it and keep any water out. Maybe that’s what you’re seeing here?

I didn’t think it was that crazy either, until I booted my old ps4 up about a year later, and im sorry, but it made me appreciate how fast the ps5 is. It really is slow, and once you’re used to it, it was very hard to go back, haha.

You can change the default audio device through settings. I set mine to headphones, so it just starts through it, and if I needed to switch, i do it through the menu.

Only 1 less year than the ps4 pro. It’s not really that bad. I don’t own it, but I don’t mind that it exists. If it was cheaper and I had a better tv that took advantage of its features, maybe I would have swapped for it.

Although I had the same experience, I was finally able to get one after a few months. I was very happy I got one over building a PC because at the time PC GPUs were ridiculous amounts of money, and I felt the PS5 was a great deal over the PC. I ended up building a new one in 2023 a few months after prices started falling a bit finally and thought it worked out perfectly.
I still use my PS5 more than my PC just because it sits in our main room and has the nicer TV screen. Everything has its use. If anything, I am always disappointed. I built such a nice PC and haven’t used it as much as I would have liked by now.
- Comment on Steam Next Fest is back for October 2025. What good demos have you found? 1 week ago:
I love those demo’s, but it’s on purpose! They want you to play enough so you get hooked enough to want to buy it once it ends. A few hours into an rpg is nothing, but once you invested that much, there’s probably a higher chance you buy it to continue playing.
- Comment on Happy Thanksgiving everyone! 1 week ago:
Half and half. I have to take the day, but it’s not a problem to take it. Since working from home became a thing, I don’t really bother taking it and will do a few things in the first hour and just kinda monitor throughout the rest of the day and only respond if someone reaches out. Since nobody is there, it’s really quiet.
- Comment on Happy Thanksgiving everyone! 1 week ago:
You scared me. It’s 10 weeks till Xmas! Also cool I just dived into Canada Thanksgiving to learn more about it. I wish I was eating some home cooked turkey right now… my only observation is that it’s Monday? From the sounds of it, you just do it on the weekend instead.i would hate to do this on a Monday and go to work the next day.

Now I am confused. Those are not fiber cables. They are regular ethernet ones. No light is in them. If you’re talking about fiber in general, then that would make more sense.

I used to use my friends and we would each buy games for a while. Then it just got annoying and decided to cut my losses and make my own. This concept was so new at the time it just seemed to make more sense sharing with someone.
