- Comment on What are the best single episodes to show people new to Trek? 1 day ago:
Voyager’s “Year of Hell” is the best of any television, but admittedly, will be a difficult entry. If they are adventurous, though, it’s fully enjoyable without any Trek knowledge.
- Comment on Mass Effect 5 is "still in pre-production" says director as BioWare shifts full focus to the sci-fi RPG amid dev reshuffles and reported layoffs 1 day ago:
Are you telling me that after buying that random $400 coat glimpsed in the last 4 years of N7 Day teases, there’s still nothing to show for it?!
Because that would be shady for them to be selling $400 coats that are “featured” in ME5 if this game doesn’t actually happen, and we know that game companies, Post-ME3 BioWare especially, wouldn’t lie to us!
- Comment on ROG Xbox Ally Is $700 And Xbox Ally X Is $1050 1 week ago:
Now, let’s all calm down. This is based on leaked data.
If I had to guess, Microsoft leaked this themselves so that they could gauge just how much we balked at the price, and then come down to something more reasonable, making the still over-priced unit look like a better deal in the end.
Until we see the actual device for sale at this price, let’s set down the pitchforks for another day.
- Comment on YSK that apart from not having a car, the single greatest thing you can do for the climate is simply eating less red meat 1 week ago:
I’m gonna drive my car…because that’s necessary, but I haven’t eaten meat (red, white, blue, whatever) for 20 years, so between that, not adding to the surface population, and not voting for complete jackasses, I think I’ve at least offset the driving.

I have a friend who was part of their 1900 layoff shortly after acquiring Blizzard in 2024. Basically, brought into a meeting and then no more job.
She learned last week that every single person who remained in her former group except one had been laid off in this last round. We’re talking about people who had been with Blizzard for years and years and had been happy with their jobs and loved even playing the games that they were making. Just poof! Gone.
The layoffs have been asinine enough, but the completely tone-deaf response from one of their leaders saying “use AI to help with the trauma of job loss” has just been the icing on the cake.

As American, I’m always so glad to see our cousins across the water follow our inane footsteps. Cheers Brits!

Lib Dems campaigned on a promise of free uni … then did the exact opposite and tripled the price when awarded the power to do something about it.
Un-freaking-believable…
I’ve always known the Tories were trash, but I had no idea that there was a whole extra party that were just as bad. Crimony…
- Comment on Students in England now graduate with average debt of £53,000, data shows 4 weeks ago:
Could someone explain how this happens?
It was my general understanding - albeit as an American - that university costs were virtually close to nothing outside of a few exceptions. Have the costs risen that much over the last 15-20 years to create this level of debt?
Most of the Brits I interact with have always pumped up the education system as being so much cheaper than that in US, but there’s a chance that those comprised of mostly older Gen X who graduated 30 years ago without noting recent changes, but this news is very surprising to me. £53K in debt is nearing the same amount that the average millennial had at graduation as well.

They have almost no content library these days. I’m actually surprised that it is as high as it is.

For Voyager, where is Year of Hell??
I’m with you on all the others, but Year of Hell is probably my favorite episode of all the Treks.
- Comment on Nintendo Announce Virtual Game Cards (Digital Game Sharing) 3 months ago:
Even though this is an annoying DRM layer, I do like the innovation attempted here.
Back in the day, you’d hand your disc to your friend and then they’d hand it back to you some time later. Digital has given us a lot more freedom in how we game, but the ability to share had been removed. This at least seems to be offering a solution, at least for those who either don’t want to or are unable to just Arr! the games.
All they need is to remove the asinine local connection piece, and make the timeframe longer.
- Comment on Is there a way to watch DS9 whole skipping the prophet & pah wraith plotline 4 months ago:
Like any Trek, it takes about 2-2.5 seasons for the show to find itself and reach excellence.
Take the good with the bad, and you’ll get to the amazing parts in short time.

How does a Tom Riker happen then? How are you able to completely duplicate an entire being if the original isn’t being “killed” and then a new copy created in the new location.

The first thing I ever saw him in was “Intermission”, so you can imagine my shock upon discovering him on Trek a couple years ago.
