- Comment on Is there a way to preserve my comments before closing my instance? 8 months ago:
Oh I thought closing the instance sent a delete request to all instances to delete all user data.
Do you know a way I can backup the database without any of the pictrs data and still be able to resurrect the instance? We didnt really upload images anyways and id rather keep the backup small making it more likely i can resurrect the instance in the future when i get more money and find cheaper hosting

This looks amazing! Any chance in the future itll be possible to also preserve videos? Maybe if i download a webpage and provide the mp4 myself? So i could save a YouTube link and then upload the mp4 of the video i saved using yt-dlp

Its barely been around. How many services did activitypub have the first year? Atprotocol already has tools twitter didnt have to combat the bad shit. The block tool is way more powerful and theres block lists, theres custom feeds instead of toxic for you page that pushes ads and inflammatory posts.

“Lost”. its still growing, gaining more features, and more users. Its a growing protocol thats in its infancy while activitypub is 6+ years old. Theres such a weird elitism coming from mastodon/activitypub people like can we chill and improve activitypub instead of constantly trying to shit on the atProtocol?

You can open an issue using an account from a different forgejo instance. You can comment from your lemmy account, ideally you can also subscribe to issues and releases from lemmy/mastodon

- Comment on Apple Watches with blood oxygen tech are banned again 10 months ago:
Sorry but that’s such a ridiculous assertion. Companies wont innovate if they can’t hold a monopoly on what they make? Thank God one company has a patent and monopoly on touchscreens or companies would never have made smartphones, and the patent on routers saved us from never having the internet… patents are bullshit and should be banned. Monopolies don’t help innovation they stifle it and billion dollar conglomerates dont need more power to continue seeking profit.

Where can we read about what they do differently? So far I’ve seen its written its python which is cool since it makes it easier for people to contribute. Curious to know of they will enable the ability to follow users and subscribe to threads which are two of the biggest missing features on Lemmy in my opinion.
I wonder if they’ll enable parts of the Lemmy api so the Lemmy apps can be used for Piefed
