I’m not saying it’s true, but there are others out there, maybe WAY out there!

Maybe older souls are affected by gravity and so usually stay within a planet or a star’s field, while new souls come from wherever (the star itself?). So if a being dies around a foreign star system, it stays around there until it can hitch a ride somewhere else.
Reincarnation has conditions. I like it. And maybe once in a million years the soul is too close to wormhole and gets sucked away to the opposite side of the universe.
Are you describing portal fantasy / isekai?
Who calls dying a fantasy? Immortals?
Look up Egg Theory. It will blow your mind.
What came first? Egg theory or the sort story by anti weir?
I take the view that reincarnation is probably not desirable. I don’t want to live forever. I don’t want my supposed consciousness to continually evolve and change into different beings, states. I just want to fade into nonexistence.

There are plenty of stories like that, though? Thousands, probably. It’s a really popular genre. Granted, it’s usually people being reincarnated into fantasy worlds and such, so that might not be your cup of tea. Still, there’s always exceptions in any genre.
Some of my favorite fanfic ones are:
And some original works, too:
These are just the ones that I found scrolling through my favorites list. There’s a lot more of these out there if you go looking.

I was just thinking about when people tell stories or you watch various Youtube videos

You’re welcome! It’s one of my favorite genres, so I happened to have a pretty big list on hand. I’m glad I could help.
