    Middle income != Middle Class

    Middle class is the class between the working class and the ruling class. So that’s the capital class. The definition the US uses is created to divide the working class. So the lower income and middle income groups do not unite against the other classes.

    Would love to see a by-county breakdown, many states I suspect that number is only even close to true in a few areas.

      Minimum to qualify. The data from SmartAsset is labeled as “lower bound for middle class income”.

    This is garbage. These might be numbers from 2010. Not now.

      To determine the income limits to be in the middle class, SmartAsset analyzed U.S. Census Bureau’s 2024 1-year American Community Survey data for the median household income in 100 of the largest U.S. cities, as well as all 50 states. We applied a variation of the Pew Research definition of middle-income households, which defines a middle class salary range by two-thirds to double the median U.S. salary, to determine the middle-class income range.
