Damn good shower thought
Some people live their lives afraid of being different than others and afraid of being the same.

Some people are very silly. I will be as “different” as I am, and as similar, to other men and the only important thing is to regulate these attributes according to morality. 👍

People are hardwired to need a community. Some of them find community in people that try not to stand out, some people find community in people who try to not blend in.
It’s all the same intention, just a different group of people they’re trying to fit in with.

I see one specific example:
When you are an average boring cishet white male, you act edgy as hell, do drugs, tresspass, etc… to be “unique”
When you are an immigrant, you are peer-pressured into assimulating or you get “othered”

I spend my life wondering why people think about this shit so much instead of judging people for things that actually matter like how stupid they are.

Well, it’s hard to judge how stupid people are.
People often mistake disagreement for being stupid. Or someone doing something dumb as being stupid, even though everyone does something dumb sometimes.
Better to judge on actions, rather than whatever guess we have of how stupid someone is.

Sure. One or two stupid things here or there is not an issue but you can take how they respond to it into account. Do they get pissed off and double down when confronted with a mistake or do they try to be better? Even being stupid isn’t in itself a bad thing if the stupid person acknowledges the issue and stays in their lane instead of, I don’t know, getting themselves elected president of the united states.
