Worf could be a stormtrooper the way he shoots.

He’s proficient with a bat’leth. Can’t blame him for preferring close quarters combat.
Stamets@startrek.website 1 year ago
And a cur’leth apparently too. That sword is sexy as hell.

This is the TNG/MWC crossover I didn’t know I wanted. Well done.

It took me way too goddamn long to realize that stood for Married with Children

Wasn’t Lwaxana portrayed by the chick Gene Roddenberry was banging back in the day?
Stamets@startrek.website 1 year ago
Very interesting way to phrase his wife but yeah, that is accurate? She was played by Majel Barrett-Roddenberry. Majel also played the original Number One in The Cage, Nurse Chapel in TOS and the voice of the computer in TOS, TNG, DS9, and VOY.
psycho_driver@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Yeah but Roddenberry was married to someone else when they began banging.

This is beautiful. I feel silly it took me a couple reads. Then in a flash I saw Picard elbowing Data out of the way to mash the fire button like a kid playing Tekken for the first time. Desperate shots go wide, there’s a heavy sigh as realization sets in…he stands up straight, smooths his uniform, “Onscreen.”

Here I am just singing along to the Subspace Rhapsody soundtrack and I have to pause it due to laughing so hard at your comment. A very vivid picture of what you described popped into my head and I love it.

I’ve just finished rewatching this episode and this is the first post I’ve seen.

My mom is a lot like Lwaxana, and I relate to Troi entirely too much.

Back when Star Trek aimed to portray a large varied world in which all sorts of characters and storylines can exist.
Enjoy your on the nose Jan 6/transgender metaphors, Nutrek fans. You deserve it.
Stamets@startrek.website 1 year ago
Star Trek still is aimed to portray a large varied world in which all sorts of characters and storylines can exist. It’s just not the storylines you like.
Also your second line really displays the type of person you are. And that type of person? Not someone worth ever giving the light of day again. Bye. I’ve got better things to do than sit around and wallow in misery and hatred.

What are you babbling about now?
xusontha@ls.buckodr.ink 1 year ago
So… are you saying now they DON’T portray diversity? I’m trying to wrap my head around this but it doesn’t seem to make sense (like most of you people’s arguments TBH)

Hate to break it to you but star Trek having trans metaphors is not at all new

‘Q In Law’ is a TNG novel where Q meets Lwaxana.
Stamets@startrek.website 1 year ago
Well. Gotta wait a month before I get paid again but I know what i’ll be buying. I look forward to it. Thank you very much for this. I know very little about the Trek books/comics.
Dagwood222@lemm.ee 1 year ago
Apparently it’s no Paramount ‘canon’ and it only got written because Majel Barrett demanded it.
