This is why ads are extra loud at the wee hours so if you leave the TV on you and others in the house hear ads in your dreams. It’s one of the subliminal messaging things that is still done unless there is laws specifically for it.
Intriguing study. Most interesting that even people without any dream lucidity still benefit from this
I don’t have any tough puzzles to solve but I bet this wouldn’t hurt to try for making tough life decisions using the same method
So to attempt applying their experiment to something other than puzzle solving, I guess maybe meditate on whatever life problem you’re going through while listening to a specific song, then sleep with that song on?
It is easy enough to not buy a smart speaker though, not the scariest proposition. Its fucked from an ethical perspective, but also I can choose to not participate in the raping of my dreams.
Any bets on how long it takes till it’s used for porn?

And indoctrination. Never forget that Big Brother loves you, even in your dreams.

While the scientists cited this example as worrying and unethical (especially for those with alcohol addiction,) the open letter focuses more on the potential of this technology as it advances, saying “it is easy to envision a world in which smart speakers—40 million Americans currently have them in their bedrooms— become instruments of passive, unconscious overnight advertising, with or without our permission.”>
Oh. Fuck that shit

in 2013 a German train company tried implementing ads via bone conduction in the windows, for when you lean on them to sleep
