The Federation rents carpeted spaces? I assume they’re inner spaces, not outer, per se? That does make sense of certain episodes in the early years, the carpeting underlining the “shag where no man has shagged before” thing. 🤷🏼♂️

Easy solve.

Personally, I think BG3 will fit very neatly into that feast/famine mode. I’ve been playing it since early beta when there was only the initial map, and I’ve come back to it for nearly every update for the new classes, races, options galore, and the meta is deeep (if that’s of interest).
On top of that, the mod community is lively, so there’s a non-zero chance that whatever you might find annoying can be easily resolved to your liking. (eg. dice rolling, etc.)
Lastly, it’s been my experience that nearly every RPG-adjacent Di$cord server I’m on has at least a searchable conversation if not an outright channel for BG3 chatter. From local gaming shops to online RPG guilds to 3D-printing groups and such, there are millions of people that’re totally game to hang out & bullshit and/or theorycraft on the topic. I’ve connected with more than one D&D campaign that way, so maybe give it a shot! 🫡

I say this first to lead into the second part: this psyop bullshit you see in the past several decades has been going on far longer. In fact, it’s baked into three class system, if not most cultures down through history.
Now, rather than look directly into that abyss, see it for a positive: we poors (eg. >99% globally) have survived it all for millennia, but the <1% have been dwindling the whole time. At this moment in time, they are the fewest they’ve ever been.
Who knows what’s to come, but we will endure. We always do. Together. 🤘🏻

Tell me you don’t understand “masking” without using those words. 🤌🏼
- Comment on Priming and sealing a painted print 1 month ago:
No worries, that seems fairly straightforward overall in that the abutting hinge surfaces could go unvarnished (I’d use dot stickers) but sanded, followed by a light dusting of graphite (ie. shave some pencil lead into a creased post-it and then sift it onto them [and into the rod’s channel, for inc. smooth action]). The rest can be clear coated to your preference. (leave said masking on until this step is complete & dry cured, fyi [24+ hrs])
FWIW, gloss first and then matte for super durability as IIRC, the gloss particulate is torus-shaped whereas the matte is spheroid, and this method nests them neatly for a better bond. It’s how I’ve sealed my TTRPG pieces for decades, and while possibly anecdotal, the results are night & day in my experience. 🤘🏼
- Comment on Priming and sealing a painted print 1 month ago:
These are all valid concerns, and I’m happy to throw my 2¢ in, if it helps. I’ve been printing for a while now, (FDM, MSLA) and even went semi-pro for several years (9 printers, 40+ hrs/wk), but still take this with a grain of salt, of course. Every use case is unique, and there are a wide variety of products and methods out there, so don’t be afraid to experiment to find what works best for your project. 🫡
That said, I’ve had better than average success with Rust-Oleum spray varnishes for all but the most demanding/complicated projects. Be patient (don’t rush), keep the coats thin/light, always use PPE & proper ventilation (no joke), and test print whenever you feel the need to try a new tech/process out.
So, first off:
-
What’s the PLA model going to be used for?
-
How durable does the varnish itself need to be for the intended use of said model?
-
Are there moving parts that need to be masked before spraying so the clear coat doesn’t gum up from friction?
-
Indoor or outdoor use? (ie. Avg temps, weather, etc.)
🖖🏽🤓

FWIW, that’s essentially just gap-filling with more steps and increased procedural risk; the varnish (polyurethane) is already a component of the spray paint, and the steps as described leave an incredible amount of room for failure on multiple points. It’s reinventing the wheel and boxing it up as a lifehack. 🤌🏼🫣
Trim, sand*, clean, paint*, seal*, bring joy. Simple as.

Frankly, a few dozen passes with 120-220 grit, followed by an acetone wipe down and a couple light coats of gloss varnish (spray) varnish before waiting 24hrs+ (ie. gas off) to box it up… is the smart play here. 🫶🏼🤓
