  I would respect our rich guys now if more of them almost died of dysentery during expeditions like they used to. Also the guy who discovered the ruins of Troy and excavated them so poorly that he basically destroyed them is pretty funny.

  Ellsworth joined the first expedition to try to fly over the North Pole in 1925. His father spent US$100,000 ($1.79 million in 2024) to fund Roald Amundsen’s 1925 attempt to fly from Svalbard to the North Pole.
