It’s a terrible disorganised mess, it’s inconsistent, it makes very little objective sense, but for some reason we seem to have settled on it as the default.
It’s also easy to learn and ready-to-go on just about every shared hosting package on offer.
It’s not the default, C is.

Sorry, when you said English and default I just assumed you were full colonial, and thought you meant simplified English, not British.
