I use Debian to run programs. Because Debian is an OS. It runs programs I ask it to run. That’s it.
I don’t put much faith into these charts. They are usually someone’s opinion.
Given that, I started with Slackware in 95 with the intension of learning Unix-like OS. I think I went from newbie to pro quickly, then switched to Ubuntu years later because I decided I didn’t have time to micro-manage my OS anymore. I tried a few others first, like Open Suse.
I too started with slackware but I never mastered it. I moved back and forth between windows and Linux eventually settling into debian. I tried different distros and just never loved them. After a while of using Debian I tried redhat. I liked the ecosystem and have been on it for years. I still use Debian for servers without a wm.
Perhaps midwit meme format would work here as well with Ubuntu on both ends and everything else in between

Manjaro, twice?

I'm running Manjaro since 2022 and it has been running smoothly. I guess I'm foolish...
I’m happy it works for you. In my case it simply wasn’t long-term stable, as such I’d never return to it, or recommend it.
Also, giving manjaro a hard time is style at this time.
I'm at the "Happy with Windows, thanks" stage.
We should rename Stockholm syndrome to something Windows related. And send psychiatrists to investigate.

I’m at the “I’d like to ditch Windows, but whenever I try another Linux distro there are too many little issues really consider it a viable alternative” stage.
I settled with the distro that stays out of my way so I can get shit done. For me that's Alpine, but that's just me. Other people should use the distro that works for them.
I got started on Linux at home from the valley of despair on early-2000s Gentoo. It wasn't that bad, but I did have a lot more time on my hands being too poor to go out most of the time.

I’m too impatient to tech support my own PC. I just want it to work with the lowest amount of hassle at this point
I was redhat/mandrake of which neither worked well on my PC, Gentoo, Ubuntu, and mint (playing with distros like LoaF at various points).
I never used anything else other then debian…Well damn! Nice curve for me. ;D
I actually started on fedora and then went on to bricking my machine with arch, still here.
How do I know which Fedora I am at?
