There’s a lot of cool stuff in the pipeline for the open source federated alternative to Tiktok and Vine, including a Web UI and a boatload of new features. Let’s dive in, and see what’s coming in the next release.
I liked the idea of loops, still have it on my phone, but there wasn’t enough content to make it worth checking
This guy is a fucking software machine.
My biggest gripe is that if I try to post anything over 15 seconds it errors out every time. 15 seconds is juts not enough time to capture the silliness of the morning feeding time here, but I post anyway.
I would imagine that this is getting addressed in the update as well.
Didn’t Vine used to limit it at 7 seconds? Find your inner speedrun.
Looks like he is putting features into Loops that were originally planned for Pixelfed, but didnt work to implement there (Pixelfed is said to have a very messy codebase, dansup recently said that for weeks he had a broken CI on github).

I would kill time with this for a little while but over the last few months the audio lag has made it unusable in my opinion. After opening and pressing play it would take a few seconds for it to start playing, and then after swiping to the next one the audio from the previous one would keep playing for a few seconds. I could swipe through like 4 or 5 videos until the audio would catch up. Also, the hashtags are nice but at the moment they function where I have to select one, watch it, swipe back to the hashtag page, select another one, and repeat. I want to just be able to scroll through hashtags or someone’s account instead of clicking on individual videos (like you used to be able to). My following page gets stuck after a few videos where I can’t scroll anymore too. I’ll reopen it when the update drops, but there’s definitely issues to iron out.
It launched wayyyy too early and basically killed the project.
I haven’t even think about loops since that disaster launch. Not even a single though.

Wonder if signing up will work. That’s the feature I am hoping for. Tried multiple times over many months, hasn’t worked yet. Would love to be excited but sign up not working leaves me kinda apathetic.
