The most prolific invader in the world - NATO - putting weapons on the border with Russia, conducting economic warfare against Russia, and conducting terror attacks on Russian civilians is, in fact, aggressive.
Just to counter your arguments a bit:
If only Putin did want to recreate the USSR. Sadly there is nothing socialist about the current Russian regime.
