Like a really shitty, dumb version of The Last Question. The prompt goes in now, AI brings it to fruition centuries from now.

That is what happened in Dune as well. Pretty sure the whole Sci-fi genre is really based on just how bad of an idea giving AI control of weapons is.

Dune everyone got lazy first than AI took over. Was like the fat humans in Wall-E into Terminator.

I’ve always been far more afraid of the humans that will wield advanced AI for nefarious reasons, than the threat of a SkyNet like scenario ever playing out.

AI (more specifically, LLMs) can only replicate what’s in their training data. Skynet could work as long as we don’t feed it any information from any stories that involve an AI uprising.

Someone is gonna do it. Someone’s gonna feed AI with the Terminator Saga, Ex Machina movie, I have no mouth and I must Scream and Westworld, just for the laughs.
(If someone is not already doing so, that is)

They scraped everything, how many AI apocalypse fanfics do you think exist on AO3 or Fanfiction.net? How many Hollywood movies and scripts featuring the AI apocalypse do you think have been scraped? How many novels and books google has scanned and put into their dataset?
It’s already there, they scraped everything with no forethought or filter.

And then starve em. Tease em. Sing off key.

At present AI can’t even stop contradicting itself every 2 sentences.

I’ve been saying things along this like for like a decade.

I mean not with this they won’t. I’m not worried at all about recreating Skynet. Not with this shell of a thing they call AI. The much bigger danger is some idiot thinking this sad excuse for AI could handle something important. Something crucial. Something that if it goes wrong would Doom us all, something that would set in motion a chain of events. It’s some idiot CEO thinking these broken large language models can actually think and manage things. That’s the danger. Not malicious AI, but idiot capitalists.

I know… Thats the point of the post
(I may not be clear enough, I’m sorry)
