I’ve been trying to figure out a solution for managing photos and videos from iPhones and this tiny thing might just be the ticket. I’ll let you know how it goes
I hate to see the users harmed but it makes me giggle that apple has backed themselves into a corner like this while all us Android Poors are busy ditching everything that’s not USB-C as fast as we can
I’m in the habit of running old iPhones and iPods so I guess I just like to make my life difficult. I don’t have a MacBook though which is why I was stuck. I’m going to plug it in to my Linux laptop and see how it works
Everyone: let’s standardize all the plugs so that we don’t keep hoarding cables!

I have a Synology nas and its photos app syncs files from my devices automatically. If you already have a nas or are considering one it might work for you.
I have one of the older versions of this kicking around somewhere, it worked really well to transfer photos and such from my ipad to my laptop and Android phone.
If you wanna take photos off the iPhone, then you can plug that in select the photos in the photos app, and then use the option to export them to files, and then just select the flash drive as the destination.

If you connect an iPhone with a cable to you computer you can access the photos in the photos app directly.

What’s this photos app (is it multiplatform?) and are there requirements for the computer in terms of software it needs to run?
Otherwise Localsend or KDEConnect are friends for transferring files.

You don’t need a special app on you computer to access the photos in thr photos app on you iPhone.
