      That’s insanely cheap. We have a landline because we’re in the middle of nowhere and it’s the most reliable way to get a fire alarm call out, and it’s like $80/mo.

  You can probably find a “rotary phone” that sends sounds instead of pulses.

  Or an even older phone with an AI powered operator.

    There are converters from pulse to tone! They cost something like 40 bucks though, or you can build your own for like 4.
