I thought this article was going to be about the mics that come included with aftermarket radios. I had no idea that dedicated cigarette lighter mics were a thing. No wonder why they’re shutting down the product. Between the mic(s) on your phone and the mic that came with your stereo, it’s a twice redundant product.

I had one because I refused to set my phone up to Android Auto because I prefer full functionality out of my phone instead of the dumb down version that Android Auto provides.

For the same reason your car’s mic is usually above the driver’s sun visor area and not in the center console.
