Sanctions? Isn’t the whole west sanctioning Russia already and that barely did anything?
They did a lot. Maybe not enough but saying they didn’t do anything is disingenuous.
Europe did an almost total cut off where possible (and suffered the consequences). I wonder what else could have been done?

trump will freeze all communications with putin, including blocking him on fortnite and convincing their whole friend group not to talk to putin anymore. when putin tries to sit with them at lunch they’ll all get up and switch tables right as he sits
I feel like this is all grand standing. “Look I’m being tough on them” meanwhile working to broker a peace deal that gives Russia everything they want.
russia definitely isnt getting everything they want out of this, since the US will still be a country afterwards.
but tell me, how do you imagine these peace talks to go? do you really think there’s a chance russia just goes home after spending years taking eastern ukraine? do you think the US can make russia do this? how? with more sanctions? by putting boots on the ground and getting us into a nuclear exchange? by sending even more badly trained, badly equipped ukrainians to die on the front?
the one thing NATO hasnt tried is actually ramping up production of basic war materiel so they can at least keep pace with the russian war industry. but at this point, even that’s too little too late, since they’re running out of ukrainian soldiers to give the weapons to.
Right. So promptly stopping funding Ukraine while grand standing about peace is really just capitulation and giving Russia exactly what they want.
What more can the USA sanction at this point? They’ve already broke all norms and potentially international law by spending frozen assets.
