Depends on what you’re knowing. The world only starts to look worse and worse when you learn more about geopolitics and climate change. I’ve never had new knowledge about orbital mechanics or lockpicking or 3d printing give me a negative outlook on life, except for the fact that most people don’t know how things orbit, don’t know how vulnerable their front door is, and think 3d printed guns are something to be worried about

The funny part about that is you eventually come back around.
The vast majority of humanity is doing their part. Most in small ways and few in ways that change the world every day.
Humanity will always prevail with the general masses benefiting no matter how many scummy people try to exploit us, the earth, and eventually other solar bodies.

Capitalism is the mid point between Feudalism and Socialism.

Feudalism: God picks the king. Or the king picks the king.
Socialism: There are no kings, but the central committee, led by the director, who picks the next director.
Capitalism: spin now and you might be lucky enough to be a king, terms and conditions apply

We have to be lucky every time. The scummy people only have to be lucky once.
blanketswithsmallpox@lemmy.world 11 months ago
Lucky about what? Not sending them to the guillotine whenever we feel like it?
HowdWeGetHereAnyways@lemmy.world 11 months ago
Alternatively, we will go extinct having never left this solar body because of the long standing history of scummy people that would rather make profit now than address climate change
