Personally, I love these.

Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 1 day agoi’ll floss the day someone invents a way that isn’t comically ardous and miserable.
I couldn’t even be arsed to brush my teeth until i got an electric toothbrush, it simply will not happen if it’s too annoying, no matter how motivated i am.

I hate all the plastic I waste. And I aint super hygienic about it, re-use em a couple times.
But I love those things.
I have 2 dental implants. Flossing is not optional.
And implants are about $5,000 + 1 year of your life. Its an investment you don’t want to re-do.
I’m not some dental saint here, I lost those teeth originally through poor care. I brush once or twice daily, but I floss after every meal.mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 4 hours ago
I reuse them probably a lot longer than I should. but like, yeah, plastic waste. sure it’s not much, but it’s the principle
keeps me flossing pretty much daily though, and my teeth are better for it. cleaner anyways

the thing is that so long as you have to shove a piece of string between your teeth and manually move it around, it’s going to be annoying. We need something like an electric toothbrush but for flossing.

Image Oh shit, it’s real! goflaus.com It’s like $100 for a kit of the handle and 45 floss heads, and when you need more floss heads, it’s like $20 for 90 floss heads. Swedneck, I am too invested for you not to say that you’ll check out some kind of electric flosser or at least a water pick!

About as much fun as a vibrating device can be. Well, almost.
I almost want to buy one just to reward them for going there.

that one actually looks good, though i have very little desire to buy something i can’t buy new heads for at the grocery store.
Waterpik has the upside that it just uses water, but is instead hilariously bulky and i’ve heard those actually aren’t very effective (and i’m not willing to spend $60 only to find out that it indeed isn’t very useful). This being an actual flosser seems much better and i look forward to it becoming as standard as electric toothbrushes so i can get one without having to trust a random company online (which ain’t happening).
If i see an electric flosser at a physical store or at least a domestic online store for a reasonable price, i will absolutely get one.

You are describing a waterpik, my friend.

You might also like a water pik. They are as effective as flossing the last time I looked into it.

I have one and thery are great for hygiene, but still a bit annoying to use.
