They really don’t amd honestly never did. Less people were punished at nuremburg than there were guards at Auschwitz. Many nazis got domestic government positions within years of the Paris Peace treaties and some got greater european positions of power like Chairman of the NATO Military Committee
The Americans DID punish fascism severely. My grandfather stormed the beaches on D-Day. He lost his best friend from grade school. They were barely out of high school.
As for the Americans of today? I don’t consider maga to be American. Just like I don’t consider confederates to be Americans.
