I watched the new episode of “The Last of Us” yesterday, and they were praising one of the characters for being so smart and triangulating locations supposedly. She said she could do it faster if she had a protractor and all I could think was why wouldn’t she just make one if she actually needed it. She’s sitting there with paper and a pen.

I had to google it, it’s called a protractor in English.
Nice joke.

How could she place precise angle marks on her DIY protractor if she doesn’t have a protractor in the first place?

Folds

Oh yeah, I guess by folding in half to get 90, then again for 45 and so on?

I, an utter imbecile, was trying to find the pun in being “pi rad”

Better than me I was thinking they were showing an 180 degree angle and meant obtuse. Our biases are showing!

Use a better search next time, like Bing or DuckDuckgo. googol sucks and was never any good.
Mustakrakish@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Tryin to move away from google. But ducksuckgo/bing search just kinda sucks too. Less relevent results. Though google quality is dropping like a ton of lead so we’ll see how that ratio pans out in a few months.

I used google as a verb, to annoy the company. I use StartPage btw

It’s the best search engine out there in terms of results, but sure
Alfredolin@sopuli.xyz 1 year ago
A search engine which, by default, shows me first two sponsored and therefore biased/straight wrong results, is very much shit. I hope for sure it is not “the best”. But how would I know. I did not use googol in a while…

Using internet without an ad blocker is a bad idea anyways

Kagi significantly outperforms google as a search engine.
M137@lemmy.world 1 year ago
It very much isn’t. Both Kagi and Qwant are better.
