Comment on Sony Reminds PS Users They Don't Own Digital Games
mnemonicmonkeys@sh.itjust.works 15 hours agoJust like Android users who say they want to get away from Google, all the while shouting “never Apple” despite Apple claiming to stand for privacy while Google does not hide the fact that they sell your data to the highest bidder.
despite Apple claiming to stand for privacy
CLAIMING.
They’re both multibillion dollar tech corps that sell your data. Trust neither.
I should also point out that one has had a defacto walled garden for decades now, the other is still putting up the walls. But regardless, trust neither.
Don’t switch to Apple. Switch to actually private operating systems like GrapheneOS or Linux.

Linux, yes. GrapheneOS requires you to pay the piper. You have to buy a Google phone (i.e. pay iPhone 17 Pro money for an iPhone 11-powered phone), so Google already double dipped. You’re just preventing them from triple dipping by selling your data. You still have to contribute to their bullshit.
They are coming out with Motorola phones that run GrapheneOS. Word is, they won’t be cheap.
I’m curious about Linux. I’m hearing you can install it on any Android phone without root, but I fear I may be seeing AI slop in my YouTube feed. I don’t trust it.

Used devices are a thing.
Also, what are you doing on your phone that ypyve noticed a performance difference in the last several years?
Nothing I know anyone in my life, does anything with their phone, that one from 5 years ago couldn’t so just as well (with proper software updates, like graphine).
Tl:;Dr why do you need the latest phone?
