Some cars now even have break lights that shine brighter than the light of a thousand suns. I don’t get it, there ought to be some regulation for this. This is Germany speaking.

- Comment on Least terrible domain registrars 5 days ago:
I’ve been with 1984.is for a couple of years now. I think my domains cost around 12 Euros a year each. Their web GUI works fine and I’ve never needed to contact their customer service, so I cannot comment on that.
- Comment on Turning a mini-pc into a WiFi access point 4 weeks ago:
Openwrt generally works great on x64 PCs. Those machine could will most likely be more beefy than your home router and cpuld become your main firewall. It can handle adblocking and vpn client for all PCs on the network as well or whatever your need, as openwrt can do many nice things no commercial router can do out of the box. Install openwrt on your home router as well and use that as access point (connected via cable). You will improve your wifi signal as well.
- Comment on I've set up docker services behind nginx proxy manager so they're accessible with https, but the http services are still open. How do I close them? 4 weeks ago:
You need to change the nginx config (for the website you will be hosting your services at. /etc/nginx/sites-available
Watch a video on how nginx works and how to set it up, and then look for example nginx configs for your services. I think nginx can be setup to work locally only, but do you even need it for that? It’s primary use is to proxy http requests to the different websites running on your server, enable https via letsencryt and so on, I think.
- Comment on Co-op campaigns are a rarity these days, and that should change 4 weeks ago:
Sure you can play doom 1 and 2 campaigns in co-op. No need for modding. You don’t even need a network card. Just buy a cable to connect both serial-ports on the PCs.
- Comment on Ubiquiti U7 Pro Max WiFi 7 Access Point Teardown: To fan or not to fan 8 months ago:
I’d say it’s best to only buy routing devices supporting openwrt. Some Ubiquity devices seem compatible, so maybe you are in luck. In my opinion it’s just best to stay away from preinstalled commercial software and just install Linux. You get away from the whole process of enshitification, gain long term support and an incredible set of features commercial software will never provide (at a reasonable price) imho.
- Comment on Can a Raspberry Pi 5 with 8 GB of RAM handle my needs? 11 months ago:
Another option would be to install an im server that is low on resources and not eating your sdcard. I think xmpp would work a lot better on a pi. Prosody, ejabberd or snikket should work nicely.
- Comment on Looking for emotional game recommendations 11 months ago:
I always loved the Song of Ice and Fire books by George Martin, be aware that the series is not finished, though. I am a big fan of Stephen King as well, he writes great characters. It, Shawshank Redemption, The Dark Tower… Thuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom is very emotional, I could not even finish it. Deadhouse Gates by Stephen Erikson. The Liveship Traders by Robin Hobb just to name a few…
- Comment on Looking for emotional game recommendations 11 months ago:
I am into emotional storytelling as well, I think what gets you involved most are well drawn characters.
I would recommend planescape torment for an epic adventure full of stories, characters and heartbreak.
Really good stories/characters are few and far between in computer games but “The longest journey” comes to mind and even the first Witcher game.
Unavowed comes to mind as well as a rather affecting story.
And a couple of dozen books, but that’s not what you asked for…

- Comment on DOJ quietly removed Russian malware from routers in US homes and businesses 1 year ago:
No, but openwrt seems to be available for some of their models if that is your question.
- Comment on DOJ quietly removed Russian malware from routers in US homes and businesses 1 year ago:
I think it’s best to only buy routers supporting openwrt in the first place and switch firmware to openwrt asap. Openwrt or Opnsense or anything open source and well maintained will guarantee security updates years and years beyond the original manufactures firmware.
