The issue is DirectX emulation. Source physics are suuuper broken in wine wrappers and other Linux compatibility layers. Proton is developed by some of the folks that invented DirectX and properly interprets the API calls nearly natively at runtime.
Source: I tried getting multiple source games working in old Linux wrappers pre-steamdeck. One explosion or fast-velocity physics object and the entire game crashes. It just can’t get the timing right and freaks out.

Slightly different, but similar premise. Blatant (loud) concealment of something that isn’t actually a security risk is a honeypot tactic. False intel feeds are used in situations where you’re diverting resources away from the intended target of an operation, as opposed to spy-catching tactics like honeypots.

The trend has stopped for modern films, but tons of releases are retroactively showing how it could have been done. Games that capture the creative intent of great films really well like pretty much any of the Alien games from the last decade, those terminator and robocop ones, even Dead by Daylight directly invokes specific director’s visions on characters, scenes, and even campy acting.
All of which are not rushed and who’s scope have appropriately matched their budget.

Hey, this isn’t what you’re looking for, like, at all, but I just built the coziest movie set up by buying a $50 15in CRT, a $20 VCR player, and 50 VHS’ for $10. Put it all next to my bed with retro consoles to boot, and the best part is not only are all the ads nostalgic and crammed into the beginning of the movie, but no live service is going to make my tapes move to a new subscription service.
Just… Curl up in bed and put in a movie that you own. Oops, forgot to rewind. Lemme play a round of starfox while I wait.
