Highly recommend the book, much more than the show.
No worries if you haven’t had a chance to read yet…
I read the book at least 10 years ago, want season one of the show when it came out.
It’s a good adaptation but man, it just doesn’t hit quite the same as the book.

I’m not saying this was the case with this guy…
I simply don’t know enough details.
But people rich enough to afford helicopters have a bad case of get there-itis.
Because they have as much money as they do they think they have a place and telling the helicopter pilot what conditions are and are not okay for takeoff.
It happened to Kobe, and happened with some billionaires as well.
I’ll never ride in a helicopter as long as I live.

Thanks for the write-up. I’m a programmer myself.
Stuck in operations in my new job until we’re done with the data center exit/ migration. Anyway cool beans, and very interesting article. Will keep all this in mind if any of my hobby projects take off.

I have seen this episode.
That is EXACTLY why I don’t understand why someone wouldn’t just use an NPM package that already has all that stuff sorted out. Could you imagine trying to code to deal with different time zones?
Forget about it.
- Comment on Someone has registered www.bellriots.com it's counting down. 1 year ago:
I mean wouldn’t any sensible developer just use one of the many npm packages that do count down from UTC?
Which would also be using JavaScript?
Sorry I don’t mean to quibble it’s just that imo JavaScript has nothing to do with this faulty countdown, it has to do with the developer overlooking edge cases.

Also, yes I endorse VSCode wholeheartedly but do whatever works for you.
Notepad++ is fine for the vast majority of people.
- Comment on OpenAI employees really, really did not want to go work for Microsoft 1 year ago:
I wouldn’t say non-factual.
I would just say that rule isn’t universal. My company is moving assets into a cloud hosting service. And right now, AD are 100% needed for those assets to have authorization.
It was a different authorization solution on premises.
So basically, the opposite of what he was saying in my particular situation. Of course I can’t speak to all companies.
- Comment on OpenAI employees really, really did not want to go work for Microsoft 1 year ago:
I really want to respond to your comment and go in more depth as to how my work situation is with AD groups etc etc
I just don’t want to be careless and speak more about the particular infrastructure of my company’s workflow than I need to
Suffice to say, we are continuing to move assets to a cloud hosting service. Due to our unique solution, we still require AD groups.
Funny enough, we need the AD groups for the cloud assets to run as expected. It’s a different kind of authorization on-prem
- Comment on OpenAI employees really, really did not want to go work for Microsoft 1 year ago:
I literally create AD groups as a small part of my job
Obviously, I can’t go into any more details just in case. Yes, certainly Linux is King of the server world.
But your information is not up to date. We’re not going to Azure anytime soon. Congratulations, you are making broad sweeping claims that just don’t hold up to the least amount of investigation.
- Comment on YSK that chiropractors are not medical doctors and "Systematic reviews... have found no evidence that chiropractic manipulation is effective" 1 year ago:
A doctor is anybody with a doctorate.
Somehow, colloquially, we came to only refer to MD’s ( Doctor of Medicine ) as doctors.
A PhD is just a Doctor of Philosophy. A PhD doesn’t make anyone a doctor more so than an MD or a JD. Yes, even a lawyer is a doctor.
Anybody with a doctorate degree is a doctor. And just for fun, all a doctorate means is the highest degree awarded by a graduate school or other approved educational organization. Feel like I’m getting too technical with this so I’m just going to stop writing this comment.

666 people are enrolled in a trial system so that their pizza debts are collected from their estate when they die.
No interest rate or fees.
So…
Basically free pizza for life. It’s not predatory, And it’s insane to me that people post articles, even in a comment, without reading them. Because if you had read the article “predatory” would be the furthest thing for your mind. It’s just a gimmick promotion to increase sales
I definitely wish I was one of those 666 people

You don’t know me and vice versa.
I cannot recommend The Expanse show any more strongly. There’s a lot of care put into the physics, world building, and characters. The whole show really is a grand ride.
I would say try watching an episode or two. But in reality a lot of the first two episodes are setup. They’re amazing, but you’re still being introduced to the world. By the end of episode 4, I promise you’ll be hooked.
