- Comment on Building OpenWatch: an open-source alternative to YouTube 1 day ago:
put ActivityPub in it :)
But seriously, a PeerTube compatible software with a different approach than PeerTube could be good for the federated video ecosystem.
- Comment on Issue adding new users on new instance 1 day ago:
This will be fixed when 1.6.2 is available for YunoHost. We just have to wait for this PR to get merged.
- Comment on 1 day ago:
No real schedule. The translation is almost at 100% anyway, but I keep finding strings that were translated automatically which aren’t very good. So it’s just random checking of strings.
Will have a look at joinfediverse.wiki later. But I can’t commit to a fixed schedule. If I see something that needs improvement, I’ll try to improve it or gather feedback here or in Zulip chat.

Not interested in the machine, but that controller looks nice.

Good idea. I can help with German translations, some CSS and I have a joinfediverse.wiki account as well. I don’t think PieFed is relevant enough for Wikipedia or is it?

That graph looks nice. There’s also new instances popping up. Looks like healthy organic growth.
- Comment on Social Web track at FOSDEM 2026 1 week ago:
In addition, some hashtags you could follow on Mastodon-like softwares are #fosdem, #fosdem26, #socialweb and #fediverse.
There’s a lot of stuff happening and watching these hashtags and hanging out on matrix when you’re attending remotely gives you a little bit of a feeling of being there.

There’s !loops@lemmy.world already, which is quite active.
- Comment on Weekly Recommendations Thread: What are you playing this week? 1 week ago:
I’m not good at it either, but I like playing it anyway. Sometimes I watch the pros play on the ClassicTetris YouTube channel. It’s nice to watch, I’ll never reach that level but I’m okay with that.
- Comment on Weekly Recommendations Thread: What are you playing this week? 1 week ago:
Tetris (NES) on Lutris on CachyOS. Good times :)
- Comment on There is *shower*thoughts, but is there a "snowstorm thoughts" for when you have random nostalgia moments about the past? Particularly about a past snow storm in your childhood, like the SNOW DAYS 1 week ago:

That markdown doesn’t work well for community links. Sadly the Voyager app does wrap community links in markdown too, which deactivates the cross-instance-linking that was supposed to be achieved with this link format.
Writing them in plain text, without markdown, works best in my experience:

Interesting. You won’t disclose what domain it was? I swiftly checked for slop domain names, but of course slop.ai is already taken

- Comment on German public radio and television (SWR) just published a whitepaper about the fediverse: "Chancen des Fediverse für Journalismus" 2 weeks ago:
It wasn’t intentional. One of the authors wrote on Mastodon that there’s “something wrong with the text layers” and the Media Lab is working on it.
It seems like they outsourced the pdf creation to someone who doesn’t know how to properly create pdf’s or the wrong version got published, which I’m suspecting because the title of the pdf is “layout draft 2024-12-16”.

- Comment on About decentralised storage of fediverse data. 2 weeks ago:
PeerTube is using Webtorrent to distribute the load to all viewers that currently watch the video. And if you host a PeerTube instance you can manually mirror videos on your instance that are hosted on other PeerTube instances.
- Comment on About decentralised storage of fediverse data. 2 weeks ago:
Holos are building something where the data is stored on your phone instead of the server.
