So a massive step forward from their recent games then

Secret bases! Kinda pointless but if you did record mixing with a friend they would appear in their own base in your game and you could battle them
- Comment on Day 456 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I've been playing 1 day ago:
Had to switch the console off and leave it for a few days. Crowds of dozens of headless zombies running at me and I couldn’t kill them, all I could do was keep fleeing on horseback, only to encounter another crowd of them. Genuinely the scariest experience I’ve ever had in a game.
- Comment on Day 456 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I've been playing 2 days ago:
Had that on the PS3 back in the day. Got a weird glitch one time where the zombies all spawned with no heads and were basically immortal. Now that was true horror.
- Comment on some days i cant even 2 days ago:
Yeah the tree:land ratio of my back garden is highly in favour of the trees. Every autumn the entire area gets coated in a thick layer of sycamore leaves that can easily take a year to decompose even in a compost pile. I rake that shit into piles over my flowerbeds for the winter, then into the compost during the spring. I would mow them but it’s the UK so it’s rare to find an autumn day where the leaves aren’t too wet and soggy.

Cars are designed up to 5 years in advance. Usually the last 2 years before production is dedicated to endurance testing.
- Comment on 4chan fined $26K for refusing to assess risks under UK Online Safety Act 4 days ago:
It works the same way they can fine domestic businesses: Pay up or we’ll stop you from doing any more business in this country.
In the context of a website like 4chan that means pay the fine or get blocked by every UK based ISP.
- Comment on A.I. Video Generators Are Now So Good You Can No Longer Trust Your Eyes 6 days ago:
It’s the accessibility and scale that’s scary now. Anyone will be able to make convincing fakes of anything from their couch during an ad break on TV. The internet will be essentially useless for getting any useful information because the garbage will outnumber everything else by a million to one.

But what if he was tricked into replacing them by his own AI eyes. It’s untrustworthy eyes all the way down

Whenever I see someone writing “Ahh” I like to imagine that they are using voice typing while at the dentist, which works in two ways for this one

The most they can do is hold up a sign for an hour on a Saturday afternoon, because apparently every single one of them is “LiViNg PaYcHeCk To PaYcHeCK”
- Comment on Mercedes and BMW, eternal rivals on a race once again - this time to the bottom. 5 weeks ago:
Jaguar had no choice. I was working for one of their suppliers until a couple of years ago and their sales figures were not good. Nobody was buying their saloon cars anymore, and their SUVs were selling well but were essentially eating into Land Rover’s market share, so they had to do something different. It is easier to sell low numbers of outrageously expensive cars than to mass produce cheaper ones so that’s what they’re gonna do.

I assume anyone with one of those BMWs with the giant grilles is a psychopath.

Yeah. Thankfully nobody says things like “epic fail” anymore
- Comment on Hands-On: Borderlands 4 wants you to forget Borderlands 3 ever happened 1 month ago:
I honestly didn’t think it was any better or worse than the others. The writing wasn’t good in any of them, but the gameplay was good enough. Tiny Tina was the most irritating character in the whole series and she’s mainly in BL2, which is a fan favourite.
- Comment on Tech Secretary Peter Kyle thinks AI is just a few years from becoming as smart and capable as a human — and he wants the U.K. to prepare. 1 month ago:
Yeah, AI is extremely good at specific things. If my workplace chose to train one on the engineering software I use and the company standards it would almost certainly outperform me at the design work in a fraction of the time. Fairly scary as my career would just completely evaporate. However, it absolutely couldn’t do the bullshit parts where there isn’t enough information to make a concrete decision or you have to chase specific people in other teams for info, and it certainly couldn’t be trusted to sign-off any designs. It would still reduce my job to what is essentially general admin/project coordination work though

I really do hate that our national flag has been taken by the far right and general football hooligans. If you go to any other country in the world and see someone waving their flag you just think “That person loves their country, how nice”.
This is the only place in the world where the national flag is a hate symbol. I’d support a campaign to reclaim it and break the negative associations but you just know it would immediately get corrupted by the same people they’re trying to reclaim it from.
- Comment on Average UK house price rises to record £299,331, says Halifax 1 month ago:
I know what you mean, the prices are high but you don’t even get a lot of house for that money. We had a budget of around 300 and the choices were either tiny new build shoeboxes with miniature gardens overlooked in all directions with poor access/no local amenities, or older OK-sized places in some pretty rough areas.
We eventually found a 3-bed ex council place and thankfully it’s a relatively quiet area with pleasant enough neighbours. Though it is jarring that we are two professionals with degrees working full time to afford the same house that our neighbours were given a few decades ago and only one of them works and it’s a minimum wage job.
- Comment on Average UK house price rises to record £299,331, says Halifax 1 month ago:
Same for here too though. You won’t find many £300K houses in and around London
- Comment on Average UK house price rises to record £299,331, says Halifax 1 month ago:
The average in 1980 was £19,273. In today’s money that is £105K. So prices have effectively tripled in one generation.
- Comment on Average UK house price rises to record £299,331, says Halifax 1 month ago:
The average house in the US costs just under $400K, which is £295K. So they are basically the same price.
