- Comment on What do you think the solution to selling progressive politics to young men is ? 3 weeks ago:
Some things of the comments literally boil down to “just let the patriarchy continue and let the men keep pushing women out of certain fields”
I don’t see how that is actually progressive. It has similar vibes to when after the election a whole bunch of people started saying to just throw trans people under the bus and basically run a republican for the next one.

I had to turn off privacy badger and ublock for it to not be slow. It’s stupid I’m paying for the service to be ad free it should be ad free without complaints.

- Comment on Why do some people hate drinking water? 3 weeks ago:
This is just not true. When my wife’s family moved to my home state they all though that the water tasted “sweet”. Good tasting water definitely exists.
- Comment on Why do some people hate drinking water? 3 weeks ago:
If you have the money for it a water bottle with a filter (even just the carbon Brita ones) improve the taste immensely. I use an Epic water filter for everything and it makes nearly all water taste good*.
- The only exception I had was the Atlanta airport I have no clue what the fuck was going on their but the water was disgusting.
Also worth noting: don’t use a filtered water bottle for actually filtering water that has contaimints you are actually worried about consuming; none except for grayl actually match their claimed results with third party testing.

You understand that social media helps create and reinforce those things right? Social media has lead to the fall of America into fascism. It might have if social media didn’t exist but this rise in fascism is directly related to social media and the way that it fucks with peoles heads.

I am trying so hard to not just make snarky comments but Jesus fucking Christ can you actually read the quote you posted and think about what they may be talking about?
I’m not on twitter and never have been. That significantly impacts the information that I recive and I am usually getting news a day or so later than people that are on twitter. That has social consequences and means that I am less able to talk about recent events. That’s just one example on how you can not separate yourself from the information economy without negatively impacting your socialization.

Screen protectors need to be changed way more often than a good case and they are usually similar is prices so this makes sense to me.

I’m someone that is from tornado alley. I celebrate when they get hit now because it means that they have to experience the consequences of their actions.
My family is still there and I hope they can get out but, most of the people I met their would shake your hand while stabbing people like me in the back.
- Comment on YSK: You can disable scores (upvotes and downvotes) in lemmy, and I think it's great! 5 weeks ago:
I’m a huge fan of the lack of downvotes on blahaj because it seems to make me focus on the negative less when I can’t interact with it without commenting and taking a ton of time to do so.
But upvotes are still useful because I get some amount of filtering of the absolutely crazy stuff most of the time.

The people that want to be in charge of large groups of people are often the people you least want to be under.

I think a big part of it is because they defeded basically no one. Made it a great instance for modding from but also great for being an alt for people in undesirable instances.

I didn’t called vegans religious I said they argued like religious people. Thank you for making that point for me actually.
Its easy to focus on more than one thing but it is impossible to care about everything at once, last time I tried to do that I simply stopped caring about anything for 4 years.
Where’s the stat for 15-20% for animal emissions? I’m seeing ≈10% for all agricultural and about ≈60% of that from animals.
I don’t really get the waste of calories as a point against eating meat? I don’t think that we have to be perfectly efficient with all of the things that we use and on top of that the problems with hunger that we experience are unrelated to the total amount of calories we have available and rather the distribution of them.
Yes vegans only use it descriptively and it is never used in a way to imply in short hand that they are bad people. Never. I watched the vegan sub on reddit for over a year so you might want to try that on someone who hasn’t seen the way that some vegans talk about people who eat/use animal products. Some people use veganism as a weapon against other people to feel superior I’m not saying it’s you but its a thing that you should be aware actually does exist in your camp like I’m aware that there are people that seem to think eating meat makes them a big strong manly man.
- Comment on Little miracles 1 month ago:
Its more because they argue like religious people than someone genuinely trying to convince me. I genuinely do kinda agree that if you want to be as moral as possible you should be vegan. But to be entirely honest I just don’t care about animal suffering that much when there are so many issues that affect people and my morality is basically completely human centric.
And inventing what is effectively used as a slur against omnivores really does diminish the idea that they are simply “doing the right thing”. I am not saying that the term carnist is a slur for clarification just that in some vegan communities it is used in the same way that one would be used.

Carbon really is the closest thing to magic sci fi materials. It’s just so cool how strong it is and how versatile it could be. And to top it off it’s fucking everywhere so if we can figure out how to make things like this more effectively it wouldn’t even be that expensive.
