This looks awesome! Cross Code was so damn good

I appreciate that! I’m in the states unfortunately

Thanks for the write up! It honestly sounds like it’s be fine for me. My iPhone is already extremely bare and stripped down. I barely use the camera too, so like, idk I don’t feel like I’d be missing much?
If I could buy a super cheap used one for testing, I’d do it. I’m waiting for my iPhone SE to die on me anyways before making the switch.

I really want to try a pinephone or something with Ubuntu touch. It’s likely not daily driver ready but I’m still curious at how far along it is.

YT, really Google, is just not a company I want to support. YT as a platform is not something I want to support by using. Also, data reasons.

I mostly watch folks like the Linux Experiment and Veronica Explains and Oh the Urbanity. I’ve had more luck on Nebula but I am trying to sort of “put up or shut up” by interacting with the platforms that I want to succeed. Ya know? So I just browse peer tube a lot and give random videos a shot.

I got rid of YT and replaced it with PeerTube and Nebula. Am I a bit less entertained? Sure. Am I a lot less angry? Yup.
I’m also learning a lot more because I was forced to find new content and new creators which was actually really fun.

Hopefully Coros watches avoid this but I’m not holding my breath. Coros makes a solid running watch for cheap and I’m hoping it stays that way. It’s got what I need and nothing else.

Go to Boulder CO and you’ll see plenty of rich morons with that kinda cash. I saw multiple swastitrucks a day over there

Yeah, started using it last night and I think it’s gonna stick. No complaints so far

Same. I’m about done with all things big tech. As much as is possible at least. Orion it is! I also saw Vivaldi but I’m not super interested in all the other services that come along with it.

Anyone have any good iOS alternatives? I’m eyeing Orion currently

Zen has been really nice for the few days I’ve been using it. It feels real sleek and just more modern over all.
My computer is a bit old though and I wonder if there is something similar that is even lighter on resources. Zen is still pretty dang light though.

Dude, same. It’s been about ten years since my wife and I stopped buying from amazon. Never have I had a problem finding the things I need on eBay or Craigslist or straight from the seller.
Just order some new headphones directly from Lenovo that were the exact price as on amazon and even had free two day shipping and don’t require me to have an account. Great, no issues.
For other things, people for the love of god please buy used and local as much as you can. I live in a smaller town and can find soooooo much shit locally. Not everything but I’d say most everyday things!

I really don’t get it either, how much shit do people need!?

I didn’t realize Gitea had any issues, I didn’t do my due diligence and look into them much after switching from GitHub.
I’ll check out forgejo thanks!

Just want to shout out my fav note app QOwnNotes for folks like me just needing a super simple but also super customizable notes app. Only downside is no mobile but I get around that with a git repo.
- Comment on [deleted] 4 months ago:
Any opinions on gitea? Idk I’ve been using it for about a year and it works nicely
- Comment on Where do I buy computer parts nowdays? 5 months ago:
For common things like monitors keyboards and mice, I go to the thrift stores around me. I typically find some decent stuff. Sounds silly but I live in a decent city for tech jobs so, lots of second hand things like that around here.
