Except the default is sharing. So, if you disable the upload you are leeching on purpose. That can be used against you in court. You did what you did for profit and not for sharing. 🤷♂️

I know they exist outside the US. I’m European. But there are too many terms of use that say that in case of problems they go to courts in the US that they will do everything on their hand to do the sameifn this case.

You should read the opinion of Steven King about that precise point. The short version: “I’d write books even if it was illegal”.

You might not remember but decades ago Microsoft was almost split in two. But then it came to pass that George Bush “won” the elections. And the case was dismissed.
In the US justice system, money talks.

I don’t know the rest but I hate the spending of resources to feed the AI datacenters. It’s not normal building a nuclear powerplant to feed ONE data center.

Let’s say that one is in the middle of nowhere. Every other place there is also in the middle of nowhere? If they make an exception with one place the rest of the people will sue for not having the same right. And where does the line get drawn? Because once you start with exceptions the next one will say the line has to move again.

Who builds those sheds? Does that person know what s/he does? Are those sheds build with the right material? Can it withstand fire? Is there enough safety to use them or are they death traps?
I can go on but I think you understand the point.

Spain is part of the EU and nobody is “violently beat up”, arrested or having a visit from the cops for going to an anti-genocide protest.

The housing crisis is not because there are immigrants. It’s because the vulture funds are buying everything they can to profit from it.

You are the algorithm. It’s like going out decades ago. You didn’t have an app to tell you which restaurant, bar or pub was good. You had to go and see it for yourself. Here is the same. You see people and you decide if it’s good enough to follow them. The same with communities.

That’s why I think having a decentralized network where one of the instances belongs to the government is a good idea. If the government is only another player and not the only ruler it’s safer for the network. But it’s the same for every big company. I don’t want another Meta or Google.
