- Comment on New Key Visual for 'Dan Da Dan' Season 2 2 days ago:
I wonder how far season 2 will go. It seems like we’ll have the house rebuilt at the end of ep 9, probably an episode for the introduction of Kinta, then like 2-3 episodes of kaiju fighting? Maybe a teensy bit of Space Globalists right at the end?

It’s one of many very sad instances where a visionary creative had a cool story they wanted to tell, and then after they finished and left the studio stepped in and said “Okay, now how much more can we wring out of it!”
On the upside, the first season serves a full, complete perfect story, with nothing further that needed to be added. Also, not all of the additional stuff sucks. Production IG brought Gen back to write the movie, and it was OK.
- Comment on Sekiro - Shadows Die Twice Anime 5 days ago:
This is kinda a weird choice. I don’t think the setting of Sekiro is that vast, so I imagine this will kinda have to follow the plot of the game. The thing is, Sekiro was already a heavy story-based game, at least compared to most other FromSoft titles. Your character has a voice, there are story cutscenes, it’s not quite like a Dark Souls where you can complete the game without knowing anything about Kuro or his goals.
If the anime is really just going to be a beat for beat retelling of Sekiro, that seems like a waste. It’s also not like the story of the game is even that compelling? It’s a lot of Macguffin collecting, the overall theme is a pretty basic “power corrupts.”

- Comment on What is a perfect anime? 5 days ago:
First season of Psycho-Pass. later seasons got a bit too muddled and had some repetitive antagonists, so I wouldn’t recommend continuing it. Shinya Kogami and Shogo Makishima’s rivalry is the real meat of the story, and getting rid of both characters at the end of S1 just killed all of the show’s momentum. Gd, what a rivalry though.
Oh yeah, and the animation, visual style, and music all slaps. There’s also great side characters that get a few moments to develop and stand-out, and most of them didn’t get brought along to later seasons either.
- Comment on Why the skibidi are you adding skibidi to the Cambridge Dictionary? We think it has "staying power", answer word boffins 6 days ago:
I don’t really care too much about which slang words we decide to carry forward. I’ve long since adopted rizz and -ussy, and like delulu being added here.
I am a little bothered by the fact skibidi doesn’t have a definition. I feel like words should have a meaning if they want to be added to our official lexicon. It seems like skibidi is just a sound children enjoy making.

I need to talk about the ending
Holy shit I love Momo’s friends so gd much. They’re such incredible schemers and having them drag Okarun to the maid cafe just to troll both of them is the exact kinda stupid high school antics I can get behind.

- Comment on What anime has the best worldbuilding? 2 weeks ago:
The biggest change that I loathe is the Void Century. The initial concept seemed too fantastical to be true. A 100 year chunk of history that has been cut out and scrubbed from the record? So there was contiguous history from before that, right?..right?
Spoilers for Manga
Elbaph has been good so far, but learning that actually there’s a shitton of history from before the Void Century that has all been covered up, and actually it would be more correct to just call the Void Century the start of recorded modern history, was a huge let down. That’s just Big Brother from 1984, it’s not nearly as impressive that the WG was able to craft their own narrative when they were the only ones coming out of an apocalypse.
Oda’s really big on rule of cool and having flashy setpieces in the moment, and that’s fun. It’s just a very disappointing world when there are so many examples of the audience being told one thing, only for the information to be changed later.
- Comment on What anime has the best worldbuilding? 2 weeks ago:
actually think One Piece worldbuilding is hilariously bad, so wild to see it used as a good example.
I think most of the anime I’ve watched that I’d consider to have decent worldbuilding usually cheat by basing it either directly or indirectly on the modern world. Something like Solo Leveling, which I think actually does a great job exploring how human society would react to videogame dungeons suddenly appearing, still gets the benefit of world cultures and how they act already being in place. Similarly, I think a lot of cyberpunk anime cheats in the same way; it’s more like a modern society getting extra bits and bobs added to it than an originally built world.
Honestly, thinking about this has made me realize no anime I’ve watched is stacking up against the serious juggernauts like Tolkien or Pratchett. Pre-Shippuden Naruto is pretty close, but I think the world becomes increasingly nonsensical as the series goes on. Dr Stone would be towards the top if everything in its world didn’t revolve around Senku, though it also cheats a little bit by having those connections to the modern world.
I think my answer, as boring as it is, will actually be Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. I think the country of Amestris and its history are really well realized, other countries in the world are fleshed out pretty well, and while they are clearly based on real world archetypes, there’s enough magical additions to make them a little distinct. The alchemical rules are simple, but understandable, and they don’t get broken by nonsense powerscaling. You can put a lot of the story together ahead of the big reveal by understanding the world and it’s logic, which I consider the mark of really great worldbuilding.
- Comment on Trump to build huge $200mn ballroom at White House 3 weeks ago:
It does kinda blow my mind that they were using a tent before this. The issue I have has more to do with the aesthetics. If it was anyone but Trump, and if it wasn’t 200 million dollars, and if we weren’t hurtling towards a massive economic depression caused by Trump, I’d be on board with the WH building an event space.

- Comment on How much should a game cost? 1 month ago:
Ideally, enough for the development to be profitable, with a little bit extra to help start funding development on the studio’s next game.
That’s a big reason why AAA is unsustainable, and trying to increase their prices to make up for it. It’s a lot harder to have development be profitable when you have to pay 5,000 people than when it’s only 50.
- Comment on Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 gets its first teaser, and you'd better "be prepared for sadness" 1 month ago:
I mean, the biggest warnings of cyberpunk fiction have always been about corporations consolidating more power than nations. With that in mind, the genre hasn’t been a warning for decades; just a mirror to our existing capitalist dystopia.
- Comment on Name an older anime you'd love to see make a full comeback? 2 months ago:
My answer to this used to be Panty + Stocking, but they have a new season coming out on my birthday!
I guess now my pick is 009-1. I really love a good East vs West rivalry, and having a femme James Bond doing espionage in a world where the Soviets never collapsed really hit a lot of notes. I gets pretty weird towards the end, and I wish they had another season to go even weirder.

Honestly, I found the weapons and builds that I played pretty fun. To me, the plot and general writing is so bad I think it ruins an otherwise great game. BL3 might be the only game that I recommend muting everything and turning off subtitles to enjoy it more, just such obnoxious writing.

- Comment on Is it true that femboys are "fetishized" by right-wingers or something like that? Or is my friend(who told me this) tripping balls? 3 months ago:
Just an effeminate man. I don’t know if sexuality has much to do with it, but I’d say the majority of femboys are gay/bi with a minority being strictly heterosexual. To be real blunt, imagine the exact inverse of a tomboy, and you’re probably pretty close to a femboy. I like some p girly things, I like to wear skirts and dresses, but I also have a masculine side to me.

- Comment on Is it true that femboys are "fetishized" by right-wingers or something like that? Or is my friend(who told me this) tripping balls? 3 months ago:
I don’t think it’s widespread or mainstream, but speaking as a femboy, we are fetishized a lot in general. Even normal people often just assume I’m hyperhorny, like the only reason I’m femmodeing is because I want cock. The creepy part about the right-wingers is they see us as “failed males” and specifically get off on the idea of asserting their dominance over us. There’s also a lot of dehumanizing and degradation that I see those types engaging in, beyond the typical “slut” that normal people do. They want to sexually abuse and violate femboys to feel better about their own fragile masculinity.
I’m very glad I live in a solid blue state and can go out safely, I think if I lived in a right-wing state I wouldn’t feel safe going femmode outside.
