- Comment on Why can't someone create a public alternative to health insurance in the USA? 3 weeks ago:
I feel like you in many others blame the insurance companies for basically everything which is fair, but what you are excluding conveniently is the fact that it’s not just the insurance companies that are doing this extortion, it’s also the leaders and people in charge. Hospital administration, pharmacy managers, and so many others. If everyone started saying no and stopped allowing this, it would never happen. If they cut out the insurance companies entirely and started making their own decisions on treatments and if the insurance doesn’t cover it, so be it, we’ll eat the cost, That’s kind of the way the world worked before insurance became so big and massive. We take care of people in our hospitals and health care system and figure out the payment and insurance later. Would that be costly, probably. But it’s not as bad as the fear mongers want people to think it would be, that’s what I feel. They want us to think that healthcare is so expensive without insurance that no one would ever possibly be able to afford it in a thousand years so we have to have insurance, when that’s not really the case, there were times when people simply did not have health insurance widely, and they still went to the doctor or went to the hospital. I mean hell look at other countries?

This is what happens when you have monopoly status. They’re too big to fail.

T Mobile is fucking insane too. Their prices for unlimited plans are just crazy. Easily $100 a month for a family plan

I honestly cannot trust game reviewers after seeing some of the reviews for this exceptional game. What game has ever had a successful issue-free launch in the past 4 years? I can’t think of a single one. But all of a sudden they are holding this one to a much higher standard, like where the fuck was that when Starfield came out? Hundreds upon hundreds of fake, completely inflated reviews claiming it was perfect in every single way.

Tbh If I had a friend who has it on Steam I’d probably try it through library sharing but I don’t.

But like what are you doing Starfield for that long? I feel like after 25 hours I had seen and experienced everything that there was to offer. What else is there left to do?

Thanks for providing this really detailed and interesting reply. Lots of good insight here. For the ‘Postgraduate degree’ group, I wonder if they’re dramatically higher due to the frustrating problems associated with name changes? Like if you publish an academic paper with your full name, you can’t easily go back and change it, so that may affect it… huh.

Great list! I’ve tried Dota 2 as well, it’s definitely extremely complex and addictive but not my kind of game, I just cannot thrive and enjoy that sort of game. Same goes with League of Legends. Just not my cup of tea.
I am a little curious about Stellaris though. That game seems so incredibly complex, like, what about it is The draw for people? I’ve heard so many people talk about it and has so many freezy steam reviews but when I first tried it as a demo, it seemed so absurdly complex That my head was spinning. Like I had no idea what the heck was going on. I’m not sure how to enjoy it I guess

You are very brave for playing Starfield for 1,000 hours. I gave up after 25 hours when I completed the entire quest line and started new game plus. Literally couldn’t do it. Went and played some No Man’s sky, and now that’s becoming my new addiction

Threads is honestly terrible. There are these asinine little widgets on Instagram that show you threads that people have posted and don’t show you the full one so you click see more and it brings you to the app store. But no one really uses it much, so you see a lot of things being posted with no interaction at all

People still play Fallout 4? What are you doing the game? I beat it like years ago but don’t know how to enjoy it if I played it again today

The thing I really hate about AI is when they say it can make art. For centuries, art has been a form of expression and communicating all sorts of human emotions and experiences. Some art reflects pain or memories experienced in life. Other art is designed out of intellectual curiosity or to evoke thought. AI isn’t human, so it can’t do anything other than copy or simulate. It’s artificial after all. So it makes images. But there’s no backstory or feelings or emotion or suffering. It’s truly meaningless.

Appreciate the great response and recommendations!
There was this online Pokémon game that was somehow realistic.
I think you’re talking about pokémon revolution online, or something similar. There’s a few pokémon MMOs.

Does it have multiplayer or is it single player only? Destiny 2 was only really playable because I had a community/clan that I played with actively for the social aspect of it. Horribly boring playing it solo

You should try Brighter Shores.
I tried it, and it was really hard to get into. There are some pretty big glaring flaws of the game right now that make it simply unfun to play, in my honest opinion. One of them is the fact that it feels like RuneScape classic, rather than RuneScape 2. For example when you do activities like fishing, you have to click each individual fish over and over again to infinity. Which doesn’t feel enjoyable. Combat is also rather clunky, and there’s little dopamine involved. I also distinctly hate the fact that you cannot do what you want with combat, like you cannot be an archer. You only get like three arrows and then you have to use melee. I can respect that people like it but it’s not for me
