It bothers me how many people think that evolutionary traits are in any way chosen or designed for a specific purpose.
- Comment on Tiger Predators 2 weeks ago:
Every evolutionary trait is coincidence. If it was adaptation we’d be able to regrow vital organs.
- Comment on Tiger Predators 2 weeks ago:
No living thing has a feature “to” do anything. That implies decision making, which is intelligent design.
Tigers have spots on their ears, which can confuse attackers.
Tigers did not develop those spots “to” confuse attackers.

My most satisfying sexual experience was with a small dude
I begged him for a second date. I think he was self-conscious about it. Dude was marriage material

Wasn’t this one of the most heartbreaking scenes in the entire series? Why was this specific scene used as a meme It just feels so irreverent

- Comment on When Does Instagram Decide a Nipple Becomes Female? 2 weeks ago:
this is interesting as fuck
“I’m really interested in algorithmic enforcement …” Ada Ada Ada told me in an interview. “It seemed like the nipple rule is one of the simplest ways … because it’s set up as a very binary idea—female nipples no, male nipples, yes. But then it prompts a lot of questions: what is male nipple? What is a female nipple?”
She’s using her own journey as a trans person to document how AI tools like those used by Instagram identify potentially obscene material.

For someone whose major gripe is whining you sure seem to do a lot of it.
I take offense to it because you’re suggesting that the problem is us, and not the system which resulted in empty communities

That’s more info than I’ve been able to find anywhere on Lemmy lol thank you very much

Thank you very much for the response
Is reddthat a server? Should all of the communities inside a server be related? I’m asking because I want to create communities but I don’t know where it’s appropriate to do so. For example, if I want to create a sub for venting about family, is it okay to do that on any server? Or do I have to go digging to find the “correct” server?
- Comment on Stop whining. Do it yourself. 3 weeks ago:
New user here. Where should I create my community? Are there servers or groups or something that I should review first? I don’t know the difference between a server and .world or .ml or whatever.
- Comment on What do you like/dislike about lemmy? 3 weeks ago:
The sidebar says email is optional but it’s required to sign up, and your required to wait for approval before you can post.
- Comment on What do you like/dislike about lemmy? 3 weeks ago:
I don’t understand this. Is .world a feed that goes out to all the other servers or something?

I meet Trump supporters everyday. I see signs on the lawn in every town. I hear them speak in media regularly.

sounds great, can you tell us how to set up yt-dlp with mpv ?
- Comment on Ads 3 weeks ago:
I never use youtube anymore.
Laying in bed bored = netflix Up and motivated = steam or work News = Reddthat Tutorials = text-based articles, no unindexed untranscribed videos that start with the words “hey guys welcome back”
- Comment on Ads 3 weeks ago:
is there a similar solution for casual browsing – meaning, allow the algorithm to pick which video plays next? I think yt-dlp is only effective if you know in advance what you’ll be watching
