That’s a vast oversimplification of the thought process and emotions that’s going on there and an extremely uncharitable one at that (most people have their own lives to worry about, it’s usually less “I can’t drive where I want to” and more “I have to get to work”), but essentially yes. That’s the reality you have to work with.

Those do work better. Antagonising the people whose support you rely on to effect change is a horrible strategy, the more of a disturbance protests cause to the average person, the less likely said average person is to be supportive.

Let’s not beat around the bush here, he wants it to sprout fascist propaganda.

It’s pretty clear that OP’s daughter does feel like she’s missing out on things her friends are doing, that’s why she is asking. Social isolation doesn’t have to be damaging to your mental health, especially if you’re an extrovert.
And bringing up “but in my time…” Yeah, no. Not a comparable situation. If everyone is on social media and you’re not, you’re going to be left out of at least some things, there’s just no way around it.
- Comment on Coming from someone who loves the game: it feels like BGS is quietly deciding to end it's post-launch support in favor on focusing on TES6. - REPOST 4 months ago:
Honestly, the entire Unity system felt… wrong. Your character spends a lot of time making friends and can potentially get married and then just decides to throw all that away? Doesn’t make sense to me. If you know the plot ahead and are willing to metagame you can set it up so that your love interest dies and you have motivation to “set things right” and go through the Unity once, but the endless NG+ cycles the game wants you to do can’t really be justified in character.

Two minutes (and you’re being very optimistic here, for someone who isn’t technically inclined it’s almost certainly going to be more) of required reading on a subject that’s just not even remotely interesting to 99% of people eliminates basically all non technical people. Because they just don’t care enough to devote that time. If that’s the user base you want, that works out, but I’d like people here who can hold a conversation about something other than Linux and Star Trek. It’s honestly kinda boring here.
- Comment on What do you regard as retro? 4 months ago:
/r/retrogaming’s definition doesn’t work anymore now that there are multiple generations that grew up with video games. Just because it doesn’t feel retro to the 40 year old who remembers playing the PS2 as a teenager doesn’t mean it’s not retro. The PS2 is absolutely a retro console, and the PS3 is very much getting there.

- Comment on just three women have died and 50783 babies have been saved by Texas' abortion law. A damn good trade if you ask me. 7 months ago:
Birth control isn’t 100% effective and not all pregnancies are viable, nevermind desirable. Texas doesn’t even allow abortions in case of rape you fucking ghoul.

The entire eastern block adopted Lysenkoism.
The USSR also abused medical science to imprison dissidents in mental institutions based on false diagnoses.
