Not just that but a character that is written as glossing over important details for profit

It’s weird being on this site sometimes. Not everyone speaks computer, but it turns out that doesn’t make them dumb, they’re just good at different things. Personally I have no issues doing electrical work but know I would get incredibly frustrated trying to work a Linux machine. I have no interest in learning all that noise because it straight up is not interesting to me and is not worth my time. I had my fill of that nonsense in school. I’d def be a potential customer of something like this that ‘works out of the box’ - honestly that’s the real path to getting people off windows.
- Comment on 1 week ago:
I’m guessing the same reason people don’t always reroof their own house, or replace their own home electrical, or build their own bike. Sometimes it’s worth spending money to avoid doing a thing you either don’t want to or don’t know how to do. As I’ve gotten older and more financially secure that’s definitely been the case with me at least

When did op say anything about their value as a human being tied to intelligence? They said insecure about their intelligence. You just totally projected something that wasn’t there then were an ass about it.
- Comment on The aws outage is so funny, I can see which companies are amazon scums. 5 weeks ago:
Do you know what power stations feed your electrical circuit? Do you know which transformers are most critical to keep you in service? Do you know who manufactured them?
Do you know where your water comes from? Which facilities treat it? How it’s treated?
Can you name your senators, house rep, state senators, state rep, and local officials?
Everyone can’t know everything. I doubt you do, but I wouldn’t call you a fucking idiot for that. I would call you a fucking idiot for being such a small-minded asshole though. You’re not the smartest person in the room, and even if you were, you still wouldn’t understand how 99% of human technology works. We’re in this together and we lean on each other. That’s the beauty and curse of being human

Yeah turns out people were incapable of making good decisions on their own. Which is fine, unless you’re asking everyone around you to pay for it.

I mean if I’m going to spend time practicing something it’s certainly going to be an instrument and not a video game.
- Comment on The Purpose of Difficulty | GMTK Mini 2 months ago:
For some people ‘fun’ is the primary reason they play games. If they aren’t fun, they better have a whole lot else going for them. Personally I play games to unwind, so any type of ‘frustrating’ is a hard no from me. I get plenty of that in my day job. But not all games need to be for me and that’s fine. I just wish people could understand that not all of us are looking for a ‘sense of accomplishment’ from playing a video game. I get that some people value that, great, stop acting like everyone needs to be the same
- Comment on Why is the human body so incredibly bad at responding to colds? 2 months ago:
Blows my mind that the solution for so many things is just ‘try not to make it worse while your body does magic’ Broken bone? Stop moving it and wait. Cold? Drink water, sleep, and wait. Cut? Cover it up so it’s not actively bleeding, and wait. Even in modern medicine were still letting the body do the heavy lifting, just trying to help it out where we can. No wonder diet and exercise are such good preventative measures

- Comment on If the UK government proposed to increase tax by 1% and make trains free would you be in favour? 2 months ago:
First off, no chance those taxes cover all roads, the general population tax is subsidizing. That also doesn’t consider the environmental impact that’s being socialized. And the safety impact. And how roads are given priority over people almost every time. Cars are insanely subsidized by society - but that’s not my point. These types of programs are more efficient without a bunch of means testing and related bureaucracy. If something is for the public good we should be willing to socialize the cost. You today, me tomorrow.
- Comment on If the UK government proposed to increase tax by 1% and make trains free would you be in favour? 2 months ago:
Do I get a tax exemption for road construction if I don’t drive a car? It’s good for society, do it. We don’t need every tax to have a bunch of bureaucracy piled on top of it making it less efficient. Rising tides raise all ships.

- Comment on Hollow Knight: Silksong Sparks Debate About Difficulty and Boss Runbacks 2 months ago:
Yeah I think as long as the devs are forward about it no problem. I have plenty of ‘hard things’ in my day to day life and I’m not looking for more of that in a videogame. Give me a Stardew or Factorio everytime - I want to relax and design things. Different games are for different people and that’s a good thing. Any game made to satisfy everyone will almost certainly satisfy no one.

- Comment on How Coldplay actually sounds 4 months ago:
I’d generally agree, definitely consider XY completely forgettable. That said, I think Rush of Blood is a great album as an album. Parachutes is a better collection of songs but Rush feels more comprehensive to me. Even clocks, in the context of the album, works. The only other album I enjoy is viva la vida, because while it’s not perfect, I like what they were attempting with that one. I’d like other bands to experiment with those kinds of concepts so even if I don’t think they exactly hit the mark, I appreciate the attempt
- Comment on How Coldplay actually sounds 4 months ago:
I would say at the time they were solid good. They weren’t technically very complex but who cares - half the bands at that time barely even played instruments, just banged out power chords and yelled into a mic. As far as pop music goes those albums were great in my opinion. Wouldn’t talk about them in a music theory class, but we were lucky to have such solid albums getting radio play.

- Comment on ‘The vehicle suddenly accelerated with our baby in it’: the terrifying truth about why Tesla’s cars keep crashing 4 months ago:
It’s been a nightmare seeing tech companies move into the utility space and act like they’re the smartest people in the room and the experts that have been doing it for 100 years are morons. Move fast and break things isn’t viable when you’re operating power infrastructure either. There’s a reason why designs require the seal of a licensed engineer before they can be constructed. Applying a software development mentality to any kind of engineering is asking for fatalities
