I think Putin thought of this first, that’s why huge queens Graham, McConnell and Gingrich are all bending the knee.

I wish he’d crush his windpipe already, preferably after a comically long fall down some stairs.

I like the idea social media is for kids only and adults are banned. If that applies to advertisers and bots too then it could be a winner!

All that matters is the sponsorship tier - will you be flying the judge out to a vacation? Buying their mother a house? The outcome is solely dependent on your investment in the court. Justice.

No sane court? So it has a real chance of being decided by The Supreme Court…

It feels like these protests are going to shape how the governments of the world will respond to mass unrest in the future.
Or in other words - those in charge want the common person to be disempowered, to frame a peaceful protest as an act of terrorism so they can be more aggressive in future.
Hopefully no one on either side does anything stupid.

Yeah that’s actually a very good suggestion.
Also interested in Germany as even diminished today it’s got a lot more in line with my and my partner’s values - namely sausage, beer and being anti Nazi.

Show me where in the Western world / developed world where to go… please.
I’m in Australia and it’s just as bad here. Totally insane bullshit being normalised by a comatose media and populist scoundrels.
I miss the days when conservatives at least had a sense of real nationalism. Now they’ll commit treason and openly support foreign enemies like Putin and no one bats an eye.
- Comment on Japanese disaster prevention X account can’t post anymore after hitting API limit - The issue has arisen after major Tsunami warnings have been issued in areas of Japan following a strong earthquake 10 months ago:
Problem is there’s no expertise in house. The Australian government is currently scrambling to build in-house expertise with regards to project management, technical insight and recruitment. They’ve been haemorrhaging cash just trying to do those basic things via external agencies, it’s a shit show of wasted taxpayer dollars. And the contracts are only available to big firms whose owners went to school with whatever government is in power… very cool system!

This is just a failure in government/governance.
There is literally an opportunity for every nation in the world to run it’s own social media service as a hub for government services, alerts etc. Even now the wealthiest nations are scrambling to do something like this but it’s too little, too late.
And even when they figure out software/process there’s no government infrastructure that can compete with the private sector. Amazon in particular are a scary one to me - the amount of sensitive data governments around the world casually chuck into S3 is going to end very badly for a lot of people.
We need governments to get serious about digital infrastructure and security, in the same way they ensure food security, sanitation. Digital capability is just not negotiable anymore, it’s vital.
- Comment on Has google stopped working for finding anything? 10 months ago:
The first result is always an ad that is irrelevant or outright misleading, sometimes dangerous.
The second result is a plug for some stupid Google tie-in service like Shopping or Maps.
The third or fourth result is usually what I was after, if not I usually have to change my query.
Tried to switch to DDG a few years ago but it’s index was a bit lacking for my day job, may try it again though as Google is getting increasingly frustrating to use. And just not a fan of their ecosystem.
- Comment on Unity CEO John Riccitiello is retiring, effective immediately 1 year ago:
Also if we’re talking about avoiding responsibility cause of privilege then the boards of companies are the topic.
The C suite are just managers, usually wealthy from their own career rather than heritage. Board people are almost all old wealth, a parasitic race of nepo babies who ruin everything.
