Lol! Touché

There’d be hardly any parents left if you could jail bad parents on whim based on a singular observation.
Then many of those kids would be even worse off…
Thinking back to the very “concerned parents” of my childhood, they were usually the over protective lunatics

I definitely read “sharting” at first glance

Either they’re not Chinese or they don’t look further than 1 comment deep

This is how I know there’s upvote bots rolling through here.
Who tf on Lemmy commends Facebook…for anything?

This is pretty accurate

Yeah I have one set up - it’s sorta meh.
Most ads from things you look at can be stopped by just an ad blocker plugin for the browser (uBlock Origin). The Pi can’t stop ads when they come directly from the sever of the company you’re viewing (like from YouTube or Facebook ads).
The Pi just has a library of known advertising domains and doesn’t let those past the router, but because the major corps like YouTube don’t use 3rd party domains, the Pi won’t stop it.
- Comment on Tesla Cybertruck gets less than 80% of advertised range in YouTuber’s test 1 year ago:
Yeah, it’s not any different than ICE vehicles, people here just love being on the Elon hate train. If it’s related to anything he touches, you’ll mostly only see negative comments be upvoted. Me saying this tends to set some off too so
BRING THE DOWNVOTES, I DRINK YOUR TEARS

Oof you can’t say anything on Lemmy that defies the “we hate tesla because Elon” culture - even slightly.
Enjoy the -30 downvotes lol, I’m sure I’ll join you shortly.

When the gov and giant corps are in bed together, it almost makes for a fascist state. Just need to solidify the power into one, maybe two parties for good PR and…oh wait…
- Comment on Title 1 year ago:
Yeah but I’d rather not have the mods remove anything - it’s the ol’ “how do we fact check the fact checkers” conundrum.
One instance of an object or subject, can be viewed completely differently relative to your position in space and time. The observations of how something is functioning can be completely different from one observer to another, yet they can both be correct at the same time.
So how exactly do you tell the truths from the untruths without proving intentional manipulation in the first place?
- Comment on I remember getting a PS3 just to avoid this back then 1 year ago:
Normalizing needless online servers is part of the issue here (only with AAA titles). These companies set up servers and say shit like “well it has to be paid for somehow!”
Games like Diablo 4 where you need internet to play single player. Diablo 2 resurrection removed all the LAN/Self hosting features of original D2.
Blizzard isn’t the only company doing this either.
Fuck that noise.
- Comment on Apple calls Android a 'massive tracking device' 1 year ago:
Well yeah, as much as I dislike apple, the majority of Google’s income comes from advertising - and to be the best at it, they need to have more personal data than everyone else, which = lots of tracking.
How do we open source hardware and make it competitive? If we figure that out, maybe we can break free of yet another 2 party system we’re creating lol

Oh nice, thanks for the suggestion I’ll try it out. I don’t use the curved text in photoshop, that’s usually done in illustrator in my workflow
- Comment on Petition Calls on Microsoft to Extend Windows 10 Support | PCMag 1 year ago:
Masking is not nearly as easy to apply. It’s very quick to get smooth edges in your mask in Photoshop.
Photoshop now has a built in AI (Beta Version) to generate backgrounds or add things to your image.
In GIMP, you can only use one artboard (canvas) at a time. Photoshop can have multiple within one file
Photoshop can link directly to illustrator and can handle vectors, not just rasterized images.
Most of the scaling and filtering tools just tend to work better in Photoshop
Smart objects are nice too (Photoshop only) - makes it so you can edit one object and change it across multiple artboards + other functionality.
And one of my biggest issues, GIMP can’t edit pictures in CMYK - it’s a big work around just to try and export your sRGB image to CMYK in GIMP, but your colors will change.
Literally the only thing I like GIMP over Photoshop for is that it’s easier to add gradients with a transparency

I know you said don’t even start, but I’m curious lol.
I’ve used blender a lot, I’ve never used 3DS Max though. What would you say are the biggest issues with Blender in your scenario?
- Comment on Petition Calls on Microsoft to Extend Windows 10 Support | PCMag 1 year ago:
For me it’s that a lot of the open source options to replace the Adobe and MS Office suites just always fall short. Trouble shooting Linux issues feels like hell after a lifetime of learning how to troubleshoot Windows issues.
Adobe is the bane of my existence for many reasons, and I jump ship wherever I can. But GIMP doesn’t really compare to Photoshop. Inkscape doesn’t work well against illustrator - the only open source artistic creation software I swear by is blender. Davinci resolve isnt bad compared to premier pro though - but not After Effects.
MS office isn’t great either (why does Ms word operate like it exists in a separate instance of reality that’s forever stuck in the 90s?!)
Microsoft captured the corporate world and compatibility with the off brand stuff is a huge issue

Fair point about Apple. They did also remove the home button and optimized their display further to accommodate that though.
If only it wasn’t so proprietary, I could get on the apple train. Still mad about my headphones jacks though.
- Comment on Phones should have FM radio again 1 year ago:
Where’s our different radios and other things? They just keep adding more camera lenses, and MORE MEGAPIXELS.
Nothing innovative or useful, and now we’re forced to buy more shit (adapters) to make other things we already have, work with our phones.
I’ll stick with my “mid grade” phone that does all of the same things, but also connects to 3.5mm
PS. This mid grade phone also has USB C if I really wanted a custom DAC, and alternatively I can also charge and listen to things at the same time, with no extra cost
- Comment on Phones should have FM radio again 1 year ago:
I’ve refused to buy these “flagship” phones that don’t have a headphone jack. The 90s kid in me will live on, damnit!
