Can someone eli5 why the graphics card cares about UEFI?

I always find it amusing when sci Fi games with flying cars have them still driving in imaginary floating highways, it’s like they know they would regulate it into 2D autopilot sly roads somehow
- Comment on Skyblivion, the fan remake of Oblivion in Skyrim's engine, nears completion 1 week ago:
Frankly Bethesda would do very well with remastering all their previous tes games, including the first two.
I would really like to play Morrowind with the option of a modern UI instead of dragging windows around and clicking stuff

Imagine being this salty about steam cards and C’s skins

It’s not that unlike what companies were doing to appease the woke gods, a friend works at Salesforce and he had to change the name of a class called Blacklist to something else because apparently they’re not allowed to use the word black in any context in the code

Worked at a machine shop for a while, it’s funny how the easiest way to gauge surface finish is to run your nail trough it
At one of the places we worked at we would know when the rough cut was deep enough just by feel

They’re going lean so they’re firing half their workforce so the rest can produce more work. Don’t worry though middle management is safe

Even if you just want to chill you can easily use cheat engine to give you infinite resources and it’s still challenging and captivating believe it or not. I played through all the campaigns that way and enjoyed them all. People really need to give a shot to cheating in single player games they’re iffy about, sometimes it can create the experience you’re actually looking for

I don’t know where you live but there’s probably a bunch of call centers in your country with similar policies that are 100% compliant with the law

Having contacted them to get a contract going for the non free license before I doubt they actually give a shit about Foss. They literally wouldn’t give me a price without knowing how many employees the company I was being outsourced to had. And we wanted to self host so it wasn’t even a matter of their costs they literally charge based on what you look like

- Comment on Aluminum 6 months ago:
Doesn’t most cheapo aluminum have iron mixed in to make it more affordable? I worked at a machine shop a couple of months and I remember the shitty castings downright having iron bubbles inside them
- Comment on Some subreddits could be paywalled, hints Reddit CEO 6 months ago:
I know the lemmy hivemind jumps at any opportunity to trash reddit, but if properly implemented (which to be honest they probably won’t ) this could be the same as paid forums back in the day. It just depends on how much or a cut they get and how do they manage revenue share. If you could have your own private forum for free and have people subscribe to it for 2 bucks a month and you get 75% revenue of every sub it would probably spring a lot of high value forums, I’m mostly thinking like car forums used to be but it’d probably be used as another only fans

Yes, to be fair they did the same with the new years party, they’d do a collection between the employees to hire a place
Mind you there were around 300 employees in the company this is not a mom and pop shop we’re talking about

Pretty much, if you’re security conscious you’ll go and turn it off, if it keeps meta from lobbying against the mozzila foundation it seems like a happy middle ground.
If/when they make it so you can’t turn it off anymore that will be a different story
