If seems like the interface took a nose dive too. It’s a lot more sluggish and harder to find new things to watch.

You can always use a keyword filter depending on what client you use to browse Lemmy- it makes browsing a lot more enjoyable.

- Comment on Millennials: It's ok to mourn the death of social media 1 year ago:
The thing that threw me off Facebook was the 2016 election and the Cambridge Analytica scandal, even though I ran a popular meme page. I thought I found a sanctuary on Reddit, but looking back everything major on it was shilled to advertise or sow political discord. I thought Google Plus had a lot of potential, but nobody I knew would join and y’know, Google’s privacy record.

Why? There’s so many other things we could put money towards that would help people like climate change research.

There’s no innovation coming from them anymore. They keep releasing the same devices with updated and pricier technology and people are bored of it.
- Comment on Tinder-owner Match issues dour forecast; shares tumble 1 year ago:
Reap what you sow- make your free data harvesting product shitty and people will stop using it. The pandemic isolation is over and people are looking to make connections in person. Tinder and all the rest are designed to keep you from your perfect match unless you buy Tinder Gold Silver Platinum even though they know exactly who would be perfect for you.

Brave for iOS (sorry firefox gang I appreciate you guys) is working fine for me. I had some issues with both Firefox/uB and Brave on windows getting the pop-ups.

Intrusive and sneaky ads like the ones on YouTube should be heavily regulated if not illegal.

Tried it for the first time today and I hated it. Everything I organized for the start menu is gone and they replaced it with a stupid apps menu. It definitely runs sluggishly.
- Comment on The average car purchased in 2023 emits higher levels of carbon dioxide (CO₂) than its 2013 equivalent. This is due to the large proportion of SUVs in the mix, which tend to be bigger and heavier. 1 year ago:
Even an older model SUV like a Honda CRV will take up a lot less space than its modern counterpart. Station wagons can be sexy too if that’s your style.

- Comment on Has HP printers always been this bad? 1 year ago:
Big printer companies need to be regulated better by the FTC. The whole cartridge issue is a waste of resources and costs a lot more than it costs to produce.
- Comment on Lemmy is slowly dying while Reddit thriving 1 year ago:
There’s a closer knit community than Reddit due to the smaller size, and advertisements and paid agenda posts are few and far between. We have momentum and lot of potential- as long as Reddit keeps up the downward spiral, people will join lemmy and tell others about it. If you want to increase activity on lemmy, it starts with you! Remember to upvote and comment, and post something you found that was interesting, even if it’s to a community you don’t usually post to.

Classic investment scam- offer a valueless item at a price, get everyone hyped up about the new item which is supposed to gain value, get people to invest, let the insiders in the company know so they can sell off, then get rid of it altogether. I hope they get prosecuted for this.

I own chickens and have had a bullying problem in the past. In the winter they have a lot less space and they get bored and stressed easily. The hen that took the “rooster”/protector role started pecking the smallest and sweetest chicken and drew blood. I had to keep the small chicken isolated from the flock for a few weeks while its wounds healed and put special goggles on the bully chicken for a month- they prevent it from seeing in front of itself so it forgets what’s there after a few seconds. Yeah they can be vicious, but it’s definitely preventable if they’re raised right instead of at a factory farm.
- Comment on So wholsum 🙏🙏🙏 1 year ago:
They’re intelligent and very instinctive birds from birth- that doesn’t mean that they’re vicious though. My chickens that I’m raising are all sweethearts. It’s all a matter of their environment. If you overcrowd them in an indoor factory farm of course they’re going to turn on each other, they’re extremely stressed out. Chickens that are raised outdoors with lots of space and different kinds of food are a lot less likely to act up and turn on each other. You can even taste a noticeable difference in eggs from happy chickens.
Roosters on the other hand are usually fucking assholes.
