Ok, sorry for leaving them out. Americans and Brits cannot science.
- Comment on What happens when a school bans smartphones? A complete transformation | US education | The Guardian 9 months ago:
I watched the first generation that got personal unrestricted mobile phones for themselves. Somehow I thought it was a good idea at the time.
Now I think that a parent who gets their under 12 year old kid a smart phone should be treated the same way if he gave them cocaine.

Ooh, ok. That makes quite a lot of sense. Especially if one uses the miles/km number to show battery state, people are gonna get screwed by the cold. I changed that thing to percentages pretty soon after I got the car.
I honestly don’t understand why people are buying EVs if they don’t have the option of home charging.
Yeah, that doesn’t make much sense.

Their Q4 2023 results will be called in on 24th this month, so we’ll see soon. They were still making profit in Q3, even if dwindling.

Quality, price, availability.

Volkswagen EVs are pretty crap though. Teslas are way above them even if VW is catching up.

Are they though?

They’re great cars, not sure where this idea of poor quality comes from.

What do you mean by this? CEOs are fired from companies all the time.

I’ve always loved how Hondas look, but this is a bit too futuristic for me.

What a boon it would be if CCP would agree to join Taiwan finally and join this dumb bickering that has lasted since 1949.

Just mail the child to Effrey Jepstein and you’ll get your lost rent money back.

If logic was a thing Trump or his supporters cared or knew about, that might be a good angle.
- Comment on The guillotine song 10 months ago:
Yeah, I hate also that those things are equated. I mean perhaps the actual elite are more often rich than others, but there definitely exist plenty of non-elite rich people.
- Comment on Apple Discusses Push Towards High-End Mac Gaming in New Interview 10 months ago:
My own experience with Linux and Steam currently (and since roughly beginning of 2023 at least) is that 99% of all games work on Linux/Proton if you enable Proton for everything.
- Comment on Apple Discusses Push Towards High-End Mac Gaming in New Interview 10 months ago:
No, Steam works fine on Macs. It’s just that there’s not many new games on Apple these days.

That’s for simply owning the stock — regardless of how it performs.

Shun magic and shun the appearance of magic! Shun everything and then shun shunning.
- Comment on Over 50 per cent of users may shun social media by 2025 as misinformation, toxicity grow 10 months ago:
Stop lying to yourself. Lemmy has the exact same problems as other social media. Just because the overall cost is lower due to people developing and maintaining this without a salary doesn’t it make any less toxic.

- Comment on China announced new laws to limit microtransactions, affecting major corporations like Tencent. 10 months ago:
I think the comparison to cocaine is apt. Therefore I find it increasingly odd how parents purchase their children cocaine-delivery mechanisms, and how society deems all this completely legal.
- Comment on China announced new laws to limit microtransactions, affecting major corporations like Tencent. 10 months ago:
What’s predatory about this? This seems like the least forced purchase in the world – nobody needs the things they’re selling.
- Comment on Hyperloop One to Shut Down After Failing to Reinvent Transit 10 months ago:
Whole purposes of hyperloop was to derail any constructive debate on existing rail network.
The role of government needs to be entirely about removing obstacles on private entities that try to create new (or old if that works better) methods of transportation. If they let this fucking guy, or any other fucking guy talk them into anything, they’re doing their job wrong. Even if Elon Musk is a persuasive person, this is almost entirely a failure of government.

The reason for that is probably not what you think it is.
Anyway, I got into insulting on this thread, which is not what I like to do – even if it’s responding to insults. I removed those comments, and I apologize for them.

Did you even look at a list? Denmark, Norway, Sweden… You think these are "capitalist free-market countries"and that’s why they top the list?
Yes, they obviously are capitalist free-market countries.
Perhaps you should read something like www.amazon.com/…/0465060730 before going on with this line of conversation? You seem to lack very basic knowledge right now, but you can have a growth mindset and become better.

Scraping Lemmy is free, and most probably will always remain that way.
