- Comment on What are your favorite 1000+ hour games? 3 days ago:
Kerbal Space Program
I’m well above a thousand hours on the first game. Then all my flying sims (MSFS, Xplane, DCS, Elite Dangerous) also have a very high hour count. But for civilian airliners most of those hours are spent AFK in cruise.

I made the switch from YNAB cause !fucksubscriptions@lemmy.world
I only had a small understanding problem at the beginning but then I quickly managed to replicate my YNAB (and import the data).
Now that I’m used to it I don’t see any problems and I like it.
The lack of mobile app could be a downside but I don’t budget on my phone.

A simple homemade NAS, mostly for hosting my Plex library and cloud.
The synology needs to be emptied, removed and sold.
The m2 Mac mini was hosting some docker like pihole and actual budget but those are now on another Mac mini used as a workstation, so this one will be sold as well.
- Comment on Cyberpunk 2077 released in December 2020. Almost 4 years later, what is your opinion on it? 2 weeks ago:
I like the ones that add a second operating system cyberware. It can be seen as cheating but you can have a netrunner deck and a sandevistan at the same time (or whatever double cybwrware you want to play with).
I think it’s cyberware EX. I use the collection function of Nexus mods (ordered by rating) so I don’t have to hand manage hundreds of mods.

I know you are right. I said that number from out of my ass as I was at work.
I just checked gog and I am actually at 201h and 7 minutes. My first play through was probably around 120 to 140h but I honestly don’t remember.
Funny enough, the actual save I use is from my first playthrough, the last save right before the last mission. As if I don’t watch to abandon this specific V (female basass street kid net runner with katana).

It’s a work of art, one of my favorite games (and dlc included).
I have a strong PC and play in 4k tho, with tons of mods to improve stuff or change some mechanics. Better textures and loads of clothes as well.
I’m in love with that game and I believe anybody should play it at least once in life.

- Comment on Would you recommend any of the Star Trek games? 2 months ago:
Not Star Trek but heavily inspired, Starship Simulator seems to be the perfect Star Trek sim with scientific exploration in mind.
It’s not even an Alpha at the moment but there is a demo that made me fall in love with the project in less than 3 minutes.
- Comment on I'm at a loss on what server to buy 3 months ago:
I feel you. This ITX build is replacing a giant supermicro dual everything beast. I just kept its HDDs and moved everything to the Unraid ITX + some docker running on a M2 MacMini that is always on anyway.
I said to myself that I’ll resell the supermicro on auctions but still haven’t started to disassemble it.
Fun fact about divorce. A cute Jonsbo N3 with big Noctua fans is way more for peace and love at home than a 20Kg Supermicro chassis.
- Comment on I'm at a loss on what server to buy 3 months ago:
Yeah I love it. It’s one of the only itx case with 8 hdds and a SAS backplate.
Honestly it was the hardest part to find, I waited for months before having an auction on one.
- Comment on I'm at a loss on what server to buy 3 months ago:
I was going to post the same link, I generally take inspiration from that forum and then adapt with what I can find on eBay etc for cheap. The prices they give are for US eBay and not always suitable to EU eBay.
I’ve just finished my new NAS using Unraid OS and some info from the forum.
- Jonsbo N3 case
- Gigabyte Z590i Vision D motherboard
- Intel i5 10400T
- 2x16Gb DDR4 2666 (basic corsair)
- LSI 9207-8i HBA in IT-Mode
- An old 128Gb M2 SSD
- 8x6Tb HGST SAS drives
- Corsair SF600 PSU
It took me more than 6 months to find all the parts at a correct price but I was not in a rush.
It’s 2.5Gbe and not 10Gb SFP but you get the idea. The cost was really low (lower than 1000) because I already had the HDDs from an older server. It should be around 1500€ max with the disks.
The real downside of doing that is the time it takes but it’s also a kind of pleasure to hunt for parts and one day assemble them all.
- Comment on A new report finds Boeing’s rockets are built with an unqualified work force 3 months ago:
Ah ah yes thanks I try to dream and be positive even if it’s sometimes dumb 😁
Another thing I forgot is that Airbus (and all EU aviation) are applying the HRO (high reliability organization) and just culture for a long time now.
I have read somewhere that Boeing started implementing just culture after the Max crashes, so very late. And apparently wrongly as some employees still fear repercussions if they make safety reports (and according to latest NTSB report 2 employees had been punish lately for that reason).
If true that is totally unbelievable.
- Comment on A new report finds Boeing’s rockets are built with an unqualified work force 3 months ago:
Yeah I’m not sure about that. Work culture, and even C suite culture, is very different in Europe.
Airbus publicly said they want Boeing to continue being a good opponent. The comments on this video talks a lot about working for one or the other manufacturer and the differences in the way people are treated.
Airbus is still lead by an engineer and not an accountant. That could change for sure but EU country won’t let it slip to a shit company as easy as it happened in the US, just because of our culture.
- Comment on A new report finds Boeing’s rockets are built with an unqualified work force 3 months ago:
Sadly getting something new and better will take decades and Airbus cannot handle the (airline) market alone. They also need to have a concurrent cause having an Airbus monopoly could make them sloppy on the long run. The C suite at Airbus are probably the first ones to want Boeing to survive as they know the trouble they’ll be in if they are alone.

Amen brother.
I’ll buy a 13’’ iPad Pro right now if it could do all those “non-mobile OS” things for a perfect small productivity machine.
Hell, I’ll even buy the official pen, keyboard and the non-existent docking station for office use.

So that’s why. I speak French and I’ve seen google results going to 100% French Reddit posts but somewhat strange.
Then by searching a little more you can find the original thread, in English.
The translations are ok-ish but feels a bit out of tone. Like translating internet “slang” in word to word French. And also seeing redditors writing too well. Something feels off.
TLDR: fuck you Spez, I am still looking for the OP language when I land onto your website.

I’m not the audience for Mac gaming but I discovered that my “work dedicated” Mac mini M2 pro is an amazing machine for afk flying 14h flights on Xplane12 4K.
So yeah maybe, for people wanting only one rig to do everything but still use MacOS as a daily. You could already do it with streaming, now with the M chips you can play AAA locally as well.
- Comment on Can someone open this pickle jar? 11 months ago:
I agree as well. And I’ve had my best laugh while watching season one and being high.
Because it was probably written while being high…
- Comment on 11 months ago:
Yup it’s probably what I’ll end up doing if I can’t find my refurbished M1 (and I already own an M2 mostly used to fly long hauls flights on Xplane 12).
But I’ll wait till they launch the mini M3 to see what becomes available on the second hand market, then simply VM until Asahi Linux is mature enough.
- Comment on 11 months ago:
Well not really, I’m not the one working on making a native M* chip Linux (but those guys are indeed insanely crazy, they are reverse engineering Mac, writing hardware specs and even correcting bugs for Apple).
The Apple silicon chips are just insane in performance vs power usage and that is exactly what I need now, a SFF powerful chip that stay silent and doesn’t cost an arm unlike equivalent at NUC, Lenovo and what-else.
I will be so glad to resell my huge 18kg supermicro server, and ofc have bonus geek point for having an Apple silicons run Linux natively. It’s just another cool geek project like you could do with a pi.
- Comment on 11 months ago:
I want to do something like this Image to replace my huge ass dual xenon and have less noise and electricity consumption.
I’m looking for a refurbished M1 Mac mini with 10Gbe but still out of luck.
Why the M1 and not M2 or 3 ? Price of course but also because Asahi Linux will work perfectly on M1 before the newest chips.
- Comment on Do aircraft carrying live animals have "cabin crew" 11 months ago:
Ziggurat is correct. The flight ABD4592 was a cargo B747 (registration TF-AMM)
I can’t find cabin pictures but those cargo are loaded with huge pallets, for live animals it’s the same type but adapted, kind of a big metal box but equipped with a door, probably a window and some food/water. At least one human is supervising the cabin but it could be more according to regulations (if it’s the same as for pax) or simply how much the client is willing to pay ?
So the pilots knew it via the aircraft intercom. There’s no chance they would have heard the horse in a 30 years old 747 nor feel any change of center of gravity, specifically on autopilot at cruise level.
Fun fact, the company is bragging about being the Iron Maiden or Olympic flame carrier
