- Comment on When fighter jets are scrambled to intercept a plane for security reasons, what can they actually do? 4 days ago:
They do, full flaps and uncomfortable high pitch (well, no flaps in that picture as it is a Mirage) but they definitely do.
Of course there are probably certain types of jets that cannot fly below 150kt and it’s not like actual fighters capabilities are advertised on internet. I only know that Rafale is said to go “below 120kt” with 16 degrees pitch up in 15 tons configuration, FA-18 is something like 135kt at pitch 30 !

I really like the “thermal runaway thing” expression, and yeah it is a false equivalency but it’s a funny one.
EV charging and the tech around it can be slow today, but it doesn’t mean we should abandon and go back to what we know is working (as some people want to). This is a recipe for zero innovation and not the way to become a Star Trek like civilization.
In my city there are electric buses that charge in a few seconds at some stops along the route. No overhead wires, no big diesel engines and no noise.
We just need to work and improve those new vehicles, find better than the actual EV and combustion engines as well.
- Comment on Tesla Installing Countermeasures as People Are Hacking the Cables Off Superchargers 2 weeks ago:
Just get rid of the fuel stations. It’s ridiculous that vehicles owners should expect to refuel their cars anywhere but at home or at work

Yeah ok… Clean them like any normal logical human being, aka by using common sense and stuff you already have at home. Or buy those non necessary cleaning kits!

They’re on the backlog for me.
I bought it mostly for supporting the strike and for the Godot C# books.

Nope, we learned about it from an English written post (see my other comment) about a pcgaming article.
If course we immediately spammed the French lemmy because vive la grève !

I first saw it on !technology@lemmy.world (in English). It was also on !technology@beehaw.org
Direct link to the post but it might take you out of your instance (I don’t know how to correctly link a post). jlai.lu/post/15406809

In case you missed it (posted several times on lemmy) the STJV grève bundle on itch.io
- Comment on ‘By humans, for humans’: French dubbing industry speaks out against AI threat. 3 weeks ago:
We have (or had?) a bad English cursus at school, I don’t know if that changed as I have not be at school in a while.
A somewhat strong culture with enough to read, listen and watch 100% French content in a lifetime, so that doesn’t help. And a few remains of rebellion that does not help as well.
I believe the French dubbing industry is also known for its quality with plenty of talented voice actors. But I heard this from others, I usually consume cinema or tv in the original language.
You are right that it clearly does not help. I am always annoyed when I see a French speaker crying over Steam forums that x video game does not have a French traduction, just play it in English duh.
Anyway, we have a perfect dumb science excuse that we love: We cannot speak good English because of our native language frequency. That’s it, we can’t do shit about it, c’est la vie
- Comment on ‘By humans, for humans’: French dubbing industry speaks out against AI threat. 3 weeks ago:
I speak perfect English and voluntarily keep my French accent cause it gets me laid.
Also because I’m too lazy to introduce myself or put the fucking emphasis at the correct place, but mostly because of the first reason.

- Comment on What are your favorite 1000+ hour games? 3 months ago:
Kerbal Space Program
I’m well above a thousand hours on the first game. Then all my flying sims (MSFS, Xplane, DCS, Elite Dangerous) also have a very high hour count. But for civilian airliners most of those hours are spent AFK in cruise.

I made the switch from YNAB cause !fucksubscriptions@lemmy.world
I only had a small understanding problem at the beginning but then I quickly managed to replicate my YNAB (and import the data).
Now that I’m used to it I don’t see any problems and I like it.
The lack of mobile app could be a downside but I don’t budget on my phone.

A simple homemade NAS, mostly for hosting my Plex library and cloud.
The synology needs to be emptied, removed and sold.
The m2 Mac mini was hosting some docker like pihole and actual budget but those are now on another Mac mini used as a workstation, so this one will be sold as well.
- Comment on Cyberpunk 2077 released in December 2020. Almost 4 years later, what is your opinion on it? 3 months ago:
I like the ones that add a second operating system cyberware. It can be seen as cheating but you can have a netrunner deck and a sandevistan at the same time (or whatever double cybwrware you want to play with).
I think it’s cyberware EX. I use the collection function of Nexus mods (ordered by rating) so I don’t have to hand manage hundreds of mods.

I know you are right. I said that number from out of my ass as I was at work.
I just checked gog and I am actually at 201h and 7 minutes. My first play through was probably around 120 to 140h but I honestly don’t remember.
Funny enough, the actual save I use is from my first playthrough, the last save right before the last mission. As if I don’t watch to abandon this specific V (female basass street kid net runner with katana).

It’s a work of art, one of my favorite games (and dlc included).
I have a strong PC and play in 4k tho, with tons of mods to improve stuff or change some mechanics. Better textures and loads of clothes as well.
I’m in love with that game and I believe anybody should play it at least once in life.

Not Star Trek but heavily inspired, Starship Simulator seems to be the perfect Star Trek sim with scientific exploration in mind.
It’s not even an Alpha at the moment but there is a demo that made me fall in love with the project in less than 3 minutes.

I feel you. This ITX build is replacing a giant supermicro dual everything beast. I just kept its HDDs and moved everything to the Unraid ITX + some docker running on a M2 MacMini that is always on anyway.
I said to myself that I’ll resell the supermicro on auctions but still haven’t started to disassemble it.
Fun fact about divorce. A cute Jonsbo N3 with big Noctua fans is way more for peace and love at home than a 20Kg Supermicro chassis.
- Comment on I'm at a loss on what server to buy 6 months ago:
Yeah I love it. It’s one of the only itx case with 8 hdds and a SAS backplate.
Honestly it was the hardest part to find, I waited for months before having an auction on one.
