Guess it depends on what it is, but 90day warranties are still a thing. Everything is just meant to be disposable now though so I guess the idea of refunds is an older person thing.
- Comment on Google sued for negligence after man drove off collapsed bridge while following map directions 1 year ago:
So we should all assume free services put us at risk of grossly negligent loss of life? It wasn’t just Google, the damn thing wasn’t even marked. Did you read the article? It doesn’t sound like this had much to do with a lack of common sense. There is a closed road by me that I have reported three times to Google maps over the past four years and it remains marked as open on maps - it is frustrating to have a reporting feature available and have these requests ignored / univestegated.

One of these: a.co/d/b0xLCEm
Im excited to try these holders though. I’ve been photographing different items in the kitchen, using photo to stl conversion and making placeholders for things with that technique - so yes, the obsession is real.

Very nice! I have the same locking Rubbermaid lids and I use an accoridian stainless plate holder for them. It works quite well, but this looks even a little bit better and is a perfect unnecessary 3d printing project to add to my list. Assume the medium lids (second shelf down on left) are with the regular stl, not the “big” one? Assume PLA for this? Doesn’t really need to be PETG does it? Agree no supports needed? 15% infill?
- Comment on (Help Request) Support Setting Issues 1 year ago:
Supports are tricky. Use support painting to pick areas that are less visible when possible for support scars. You Can you use prusa slicer with bambu I believe. I find organic supports scar less is many instances. Most straightforward answer is also to try increasing support spacing.
- Comment on Why are women turning to TikTok for advice about the pill? Because doctors won’t listen to us 1 year ago:
This presumes that the doctors gender identity affect their knowledge of how a hormone affects the body from a scientific perspective? If you just want opinions from people that have a similar perspective, social media is probably right up that alley. If you want a critical review of scientific data and stories about how patients they have treated have faired, why is gender identity relevant?

So the alternative to Microsoft is Google?
I dunno, that sounds very Out of the frying pan and into the fires of hell to me.
- Comment on Microsoft cuts ties with the Surface Duo after just 2 Android version updates 1 year ago:
That sounds pretty reasonable. I feel so owned by technology lately. It used to be exciting to have tech that you could decide when you wanted to retire it and focus spending on something new and different that served a different purpose. Now I feel like I’m stuck with all the same basic gadgets but I just need to keep throwing money at them to replace them every few years. It’s about as unexciting as having to spend money on an oil change. I’m pretty primed by this as recently my electric objects picture frame just pulled the plugs on their server recently with no notice and bam, I have a black screen in my living room instead of pictures of my dog, family, and favorite artwork.
- Comment on This Bill Threatens Access to LGBTQ+ Online Communities. 1 year ago:
Yeah sure does but it threatens a lot more than just these communities. This will affect almost everyone and is a clear power grab to gain even more goverental control of online activity across the board. Children are often used as pawns for these types of bills. This is similar to the sesta/fosta nonsense.

Completely agree. Everyone despises crypto now, but it would be perfect for this.

I see an irony in the fact that I can’t read this damn article without paying for yet another media / news subscription service. Stop linking to pay walls Lemmites!
- Comment on Streaming Has Reached Its Sad, Predictable Fate | What should I watch? is now a much easier question than How do I watch it? 1 year ago:
Yeah, this is much less chaotic. It’s not even about the cost so much as the convince now.
BTW I use the plex discovery search to find stuff across streaming services. This deserves a shoutout here. Could be better but I haven’t found a better solution. Google voice search on my nvidia shield used to be good at this but it’s really degraded lately.

Well you got out early then. If you kept looking you would have seen the XM. That’s the thing that stopped me from looking. They clearly have no soul whatsoever.

- Comment on Robots are pouring drinks in Vegas. As AI grows, the city's workers brace for change 1 year ago:
I’d rather buy a cocktail from a vending machine than a person tbh. If well programmed it should be able to get proportions perfect, there’s a fighting chance it might know what a right hand cocktail is, and if not it should have an option to let me select components. I don’t need to be an ass about being particular with what brand rums and vermouth I want, I can clearly see what’s available from the selection. It could also let me pick the most popular drink of the night or very quickly give me a mini sampler of a drink if I was feeling curious.

- Comment on Space junk is on the rise, and no one is in charge of cleaning it up | There are at least 100 bags of human waste on the surface of the Moon. 1 year ago:
Uggh, the anti-space argument is always the same. “Let’s focus on earth first” Earth is always going to have problems, this mindset gets us nowhere. It’s not like the people thinking about the space poop problem would all be hard at work solving earth poop problems if they weren’t allowed to think about space waste. These things are so incredibly not mutually exclusive. Furthermore, it’s entirely possible that some out of box thinking about how to manage moon waste ends up making for a creative solution for earth waste management that has a huge impact. Perhaps we need little packets of genetically modified yeast placed in moon poop bags to eat up the waste, and it turns out that putting that in Portapotties helps with odor, decontamination and insect burden. Who knows. It’s never too soon to seriously start thinking about space problems.

Can look at those thank you. Looks like Tinkercad actually does have some threading options and that’s closer to my comfort zone. Appreciate all the great comments here. The more I look into these options, the more I think for the routine, shoot I lost the cap for these gummy vitamins or paint bottle type situations, the more I like my tpu stopper idea for simplicity. There are more variables than I realized on getting a cap to fit it appears.

- Comment on Yes, a Pigeon is Faster for Data Transfer than Gigabit Fiber Internet 1 year ago:
I was lucky enough to have 2Gb fiber introduced to my area recently - I have to say I rarely notice meaningful differences over my lowest tier cable connection. I pull 1400Mbs on router based tests, but routine endpoint speed tests are 300-700 range. Was 30 on prior connection. Can run more stuff all at once, but still get occasional streaming delays, 5min of low resolution streams, routine downloads are about the same. Now that Mullvad has dropped port forwarding, this pigeon system is sounding pretty attractive.
